Hey Guys,

Just thinking ahead. Does Ford's warranty cover track days if it's not competition? Just a normal HPDE is what I'm asking about.

I'd be more concerned about your insurance coverage and less concerned about the warranty. Most insurance companies don't provide coverage for anything on track, even if it's not competitive. Ford would have difficulty proving that a mechanical failure was due to a HDPE event.

Yes, maybe:

A little digging found this in the 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Warranty Terms and Conditions: "We do not recommend modifying or racing (for competition or time) Ford Performance vehicles, as they are designed and built to be driven as delivered from the factory. The warranty information discusses vehicle usage and the installation of aftermarket parts and their effect on warranty coverage. "

So racing on a track for time is not recommended by Ford, yet the document also says that the vehicle's Track mode should be "used by skilled drivers for spirited and aggressive driving while at the track." And the car's Drag Strip mode should be "used at the drag strip." Therefore, track driving is within the limits and guidelines outlined. Hmm.

Ford does seem to honor their warranty after HPDE events. Ford has even gone as far to reimburse a Mustang6G member for their track day entrance fee when a warranty issue caused them to cancel. It took some dialing to Ford customer service but it did happen for one member I know.

HPDE events are covered under the vehicle warranty. As pointed out, your automobile insurance most likely will not cover these events. Dont even call and ask because I've heard of insurance companies dropping people after inquiring.

I get HPDE insurance ce through lockton motorsports. It runs about $500 for a weekend event. Deductables range from 5 to 10% and you set the value. However the value has to be reasonable..... you can't insure a cheap car for max policy value. In other words, you may have to justify the claim if there is a loss.

Thinking ahead? What do you mean exactly since you don’t own a GT500? You seem all in on the Camaro, why is this a concern? Some kind of subversive comparison of HPDE warranty coverage of GM v. Ford in the context of HPDEs ?

I'll trade the ZLE in in 2 or 3 years. Right now it's down to a CFTP car and a C8 Z06.

You are a fool for defending a brand son. Fuck Ford AND Chevy. Just buy the car you like.

Any lawyers here?

Now that I think about it, I think I'd have a legit lawsuit if I bought a car with "track pack" in the name and it broke on the track (road course) as long as I wasn't competing with it. Am I wrong?

To be safe, just say you're another M6G member that you know uses the same insurance company when you call.
