We were told to arrive at 7.20 to get fitted into our headgear and suits. Ford performance didn't open up until 7.30. We were led directly into a classroom and the instructors introduced themselves; the helmets, head sock, neck restraint, and flame suit were then passed out and a brief introduction of how to fasten the chin strap and neck restraint to the helmet were done. The class section started up around 8 and ended around 9 (ill upload the overview sheets they gave us in a day or two). After the class session we were lead outside to our cars for the day (each car had our name decaled on the windshield). We then got to drive our cars (following the instructor) to the teaching track areas. One section was a small autocross to teach the fundamentals of picking a line, the second was a skid car, and the third was an acceleration and braking section. We were at each section around 30-45 minutes with each driver actually doing an activity almost the entire time. We then broke for lunch around 11.30 and we drove our cars back to the ford performance center, ate lunch and resumed a short classroom session at 12.30 explaining the flags at the track and what speeds you should be in. The entire time at the track infield you are told to be in 3rd gear and then on the outer loop you get to use 4th; we were told to use the cars hard in 4th gear we got to around 120mph and 3rd was almost always over 4k rpm.

My car only had 100 miles at the beginning and after everything it had around 170 miles. The cars were set up with a roll bar, rear seat delete, 4 point harness, and a wire to plug the helmet into the radio to hear the instructors. All cars also had the handling package.

After lunch we went to the race track and went on an slow 25-40 mph around the track for an intro lap and then divided into two groups and then each half divided into 2 cars. The first half is in a class at the racetrack and the second half is on the track. The classroom time is for everyone that was on the track to discuss what the instructor said and the classroom instructor was to help each person achieve the track instructors suggestions. On the track each group of 2 follows the instructor with the instructor showing the lines to take and keeping an eye (through his mirrors) on your performance and giving feedback. Each track period was 3 laps and each lap the two students swapped who follows directly behind the instructor. We when on the track a total of 3 times and were allowed to thrash the cars as hard as we could, assuming the instructor was okay with our abilities and allowed it. After this we were allowed to be the passenger with an instructor and shown the true potential of the Mach 1. I thought we were rough on the cars but the instructors thrashed them on a whole different league. After everyone did a ride along we went back to the main Ford Performance building for graduation. We were given a bag of goodies, a certificate, and also a trophy (pictures to follow). Everything was concluded by 5pm.

Not once did anyone in the group wreck or break anything on the cars. Two drivers dropped out after lunch but hung around and until graduation. Never once did any of the cars overheat (100*F day) or even experience brake fade.

Just curious, why did the 2 drivers drop out? I'm signed up for next weeks session. Sounds like a blast.

If you bring a guest what will they be doing?
I don t even have my car yet and am looking forward to this day.
I was an instructor at Poconno Pa. Stock Car Racing Experience a few seasons. Sounds like the same routine. Everyone always had a great time!!

I brought a non driving guest and they were bored the entire time. They get to be at the reception dinner; only follow you around all track day, get the same lunch as you, and then get one lap at the very end of the day with an instructor.

Sounds like it wouldn't be worth my 14 yr old even coming

No. There are no activities for them to do or anything. My fiance wished she took an adult coloring book she was that bored.

They can take pictures and videos but there is a proffesional photographer there taking free pictures of you so even that is not necessary

Did you see any of the guests that opted to pay extra for the driving experience? Any idea how the experience is for those guests?

Not a single person paid extra for a driver. There were four guests in total (all wife's). One mach 1 owner was a woman and decided to let her husband be the driver.

Any person that pays extra for another driving experience from my understanding they get one of the ford performance school gts and not a mach 1

Not surprising a bunch of wives got dragged there lol. I’ve got a pregnant wife that wants to go. Still trying to figure that out if it’s doable……..

My wife came when I did the Pocono Nascar Experience, she was bored as Hell. When I was calling to make my reservation for this she said "have a great time...see you when you get back"...lol. I guess sitting and watching once was enough for her.
