I’m getting a faulty sensor notification on my dashboard(front left tire).

Can I use a different brand of sensor for that tire or all the 4 sensors need to be the same?

It can be a different brand, yes. As long as it operates at the correct frequency.

From previous threads and others' experiences, I recommend the Ford OEM replacement. I would not use something purchased from eBay or like sites, for two reasons: 1) you don't know how old it is. TPMS sensors have a battery. 2) You don't know the quality of that non-Ford item or how compatible it is with Ford's systems. Other members have previously reported "weirdness" with off-brand items, either poor readings or odd behavour.

Some of my previous posts follow.

Have the batteries on the other sensors checked too. If one went out, the others will probably follow. Just had that happen on my wife’s car. One went out and the other 3 were showing a weakened battery, so I just changed all 4. Dealerships and some tire shops have a tool that can check the sensor’s battery health.

Weird, my front left went out yesterday morning. It was 10° here.
After I finished up my job heading home about 6 miles into drive and air temp at 26° the sensor reset and no more issues.
First time ever having an issue with TPMS and it’s on the originals from 2015.

I’d suggest to deflate the tire to 15 20 psi, re-inflate to your preferred psi and drive it to trigger the reset before swapping out the sensor.

Took a break from work and went to my car and the warning sign disappeared and car was able to read the tire pressure… could be a sign that the sensor is on his way out or just a one time thing?

In Greg’s case, 10 years is quite a long time for TPMS sensors. I usually change mine whenever I get new tires. Which is typically every 5 years or so

I’ve got 14 years on an OEM set
I have the good Ateq tool and so far knock on wood battery life is good.
But as we know Li-Po batteries are good until they’re not, no real warning just a quick I’m done working now recharge or replace me now.

Well you know what to watch for but honestly bleeding and blowing some air through the TPMS could be advantageous. The sensors probably get bored always being at a consistent pressure inside a dark place and wanted some love from its owner….. LOL
Stranger things happen.

I know it’s tempting to save money, especially when my local dealer charged me $50 for a wholesale pricing, but man the aftermarket ones gave me nothing but trouble.

Also fairly certain Ford directly sells a whole set for like $140 with the little programming fob. My OEM sensor synced right up with that little fob, while all of the aftermarket ones refused, no matter what we tried. Correct frequency, used Autel and snap on programmers, everything.

My tire was at 10psi when I inflated mine. My left front went out too; said zero. I inflated it to 38 psi. Wife drove it for 4 miles maybe. Didn't reset. Do I have to drive longer? Read on Youtube he drove for 20 minutes. I have a 20 minute drive Saturday so maybe I'll check then.
