If extended warranty on #1 is transferable, and if #1 drives great, then I would go with #1. That warranty might end up being pretty valuable down the road.

I agree as well, #1 is the better buy. Someone raised a good point though, what are the colors of each?

I think when he says 5 year /100k extended warranty he's talking about it being Ford Certified. That alone really should be the selling point for him. They go through those vehicles pretty thoroughly as it was explained to me.

And they *didn't* certify the other one...might not be a big deal, but..

It sounds to me like you already know you want the first one.

... But is the second one the actual 50th anniversary edition? Or just the appearance package? If somehow it's the former, then holy shit, that seems like an incredible deal. I'm pretty sure it's the latter, though, in which case... meh.

Could be. I read it as a private party sale.

I personally, would probably be leaning toward the #2. Less miles, tires aren't bad.

#1 If he had exhaust, he was probably tuned and had other mods too. (the just taken off) Already has a new set of tires <15k. I'm thinking he was smoking the tires frequently, or enjoying the Line Lock way too much.

If # 2 is a limited edition (one of 1964 units) actual 50th Year Edition, not just 50th Anniversary appearance package, I'd get it.

I don't think the rear tires being bad at 15k means it was abused. The purellis are pure garbage on the pp and mine lasted only 9k miles. I did zero burnouts or drag strip visits. The tires just wear down super fast. I'd go option 1.

car #1 may have a tune. car #2, the Ford Racing warranty may not be the same as the standard Ford warranty. You should investigate that. In either case, I would budget another $2k for clutch. Just in case.

I replaced my rears at 14k. I only did 1 burnout on purpose but then realized that every time I did a hard pull out of second my tires were broken loose a lot more often than i thought. i was essentially doing 5 burnouts a week..lol. I don't consider my car abused though. For his #1 option I said someone "had fun" in it. :)

**As I understand it based on a thread in the engine section of the forum containing correspondence from Ford**

The power packs from FRPP drop your warranty mileage to 3 years and 36k. Not 36 from where you area, but UNTIL 36k miles. So if you had 1k miles and got the pack, you now have a 36k mile warranty instead of 60k (or whatever the new is). If you get the FRPP pack and have 35,999 miles on the car, you now have 1 mile left on your warranty for the entire vehicle, powertrain and all.

Absolutely and completely not worth it when you can mod it with another company and not necessarily void it, depending on what actually goes wrong with the vehicle and if the tune/mods did or didn't contribute to that failure.

Thanks for the responses everybody!

For a little more input, Mustang #1 is owned by an older gentlemen who's never tracked the car, but he used it as a daily driver. Tires were replaced because he said he actually got a flat in one of them, so they weren't bald or anything, even though the stock PP tires do suck.

It's never been tuned or anything, doesn't even have window tint or any mods aside from the exhaust.

I think I'm going to go with #1 based on the fact that it seems to be more of what I'm looking for overall.

Thanks again!

I keep reading ... " what colors are the car " and the OP won't say ?

Go with # 1 if it's not a Pink Mustang ?

is there a way to tell if a used car has a tune? If you buy a used car that has a 93-tune and fill with 87 octane, that can cause a problem.

I take it you require the Premium pack? If not, I wonder how much a brand new GT PP base is after discounts/negotiation.

You're taking a gamble with those aftermarket tunes vs. your warranty. Ford could detect a tune was installed previously and deny based on something.

If you want to take that same gamble, just tune it with the PowerPack yourself (not registering it) and try to remove the tune if you have a problem, and have them prove that the "mystery tune" that was there before caused the problem.
