They are called MANUAL cars for a reason. You have to shift gears manually. With an auto car, when you want to accelerate, the car will downshift for you. With a manual car however, you have downshift manually when you intend to accelerate (in a reasonable manner that is).

If you drive a manual car, be willing/ready to shift gears.

You can just keep it one gear. I've found in the manumatic mode in my car that there's really never any need to leave 3rd gear under any circumstances.

On highway passes to get the kick on the pants feel, you do have to drop the gear from 6th to 4th gear, but don't forget to hit the gas pedal to the right rpm or a little above your current speed. The advantage of the auto will be that rev matching and smooth downshift acceleration. But i love my manual and would never change it.

3rd gear at 50-70mph, the rpm will be way over 2000rpm ;=)

Yeah, but how often are you ever going to be driving over 50 mph?

Oh you know, any major highway in the country...
Maybe at like 3:00 a.m.... most of the highways I drive on, there's way too much traffic to ever get to 50 mph. I mean, I've done it before -- I've gotten my 2015 up as high as 70 mph -- but it's not an everyday occurrence.
