The Poms make good car based TV shows, pity they can't play cricket to the same standard. :)

Yes, why is it you Americans have to change everything?
Its a bonnet that covers the engine and bit that covers the wheels is the wing! And while I am at it color has a u in it Colour!

Seriously, I am chuffed that you guys like Top Gear, my whole family waits eagerly for each new series and it cool to thing you guys across the Atlantic love it too. Hopefully the Top Gear guys will come across and drive route 66 in the new Mustang. Certainly something I intend doing one day!
I love the word Chuffed lol

I also love to watch Wheeler Dealers

Well then for the Aussies
I am 'stoked' that you like Top Gear
For the Americans, errr, would 'Pumped' be more appropriate?
As for the cricket Spittnchips, I am watching right now. Bowled India out for 148 and have just matched that score for the loss of one wicket!

Haha awesome.

Honestly what is the general consensus on American Muscle cars in the UK? Jeremy Clarkson always likes to say that American V8s are intoxicating.

Not a fan of TopGear. They take every opportunity to take shots at Americans they can. Almost any car that's made in the UK/Germany gets outlandishly good reviews and almost anything from America is blasted. They choose ridiculously favored tests and compare cars that are 50k apart and then slam one of the cars for having less quality... REALLY? You think the car that cost twice as much will be better quality and probably perform better.. You think a car that cost half as much might use a material like plastic to save weight while the massively more expensive car might use a more expensive material like carbon fiber...You think a car that cost half as much might not have as nice of interior....These are your legitimate complaints and your reasoning to call the half priced American product "garbage"....shocking.

What bothers me about it is that shows like TopGear get people to actually expect the mustang to be on par with cars like the m4 in terms of quality and performance. I am an old guy and in global business. Companies don't just randomly pick a price point. The price point is driven from the investments in research and materials in a car. A car that cost double IS going to be a better car or at least have so many differences that it almost makes it a completely different type of car.

Top gear is for comedy. Their head to heads and reviews are virtually worthless for their ridiculous amount of bias.

And yet Top Gear and Clarkson have both said the new Vette is better than the Jag F-Type. The reason the riff on America so much is because we have thin skin making us an easy target.

Blimey, is Top Gear that popular in the States?

I always knew it was shown across the world but did not think it was that popular that you guys in the States would be excited about the Mustang being on it.

So you all get the British Jeremy, Hamster and Mr Slow type humour then?

They do like to give American cars a bit of a hard time but I somehow think they will lover the 2015 Mustang. Not that I care either way. Its what I think that matters

Brit shows have been popular in Canada forever. And many US shows are remakes of British hits, Steptoe and son and Man about the House for example were poorly reproduced as Sanford and Son and Three's Company. As you've read there's a US Top Gear as well, which doesn't live up to the original. However the US version of House of Cards is miles better than the original. Best bit of being in Canada is we get to pick from the best stuff our cousins across the pond and down south produce.

Congratulations TopGear you've successfully chosen an American car once in a head to head comparison.

I travel in global business and am in no less than four or five countries a year. American hate and bias have nothing to do with our "thin skin". Im ridiculously respectful of others cultures and I get "America" hate every time I hit Europe and yes that includes the UK...If you want to hate on America that's fine, I honestly don't care. I do hate the drones that feel TopGear is a legit car review organization and take anything they have to say as truth...TopGear is for the UK by the UK. The comedy is British and any review is going to have a British bias....If you understand that and take it with a grain of salt then cool. If you think the comparisons they do are legit I have some bad news for you....Their level of seriousness is to turn cars into boats and race them...I keep that in mind when they do their "serious" car reviews. The shows entire premise is "for good fun".

TopGear is pretty hilarious. I love watching he show and find it funny when they take a crack at us 'Muricans. Didn't clarkson drive a GT500 through Europe? I can't recall the full episode but I remember he drove it for an extended period of time. I think he wasn't very comfortable but was enthralled by the power.

As for the American topgear...it's never going to be as good as the original but I have grown to like it. It's not half bad and sometimes thy are pretty funny. The first few episodes they seemed to be trying to be exactly like the original but it seems they have started to get their own stride. Again, not as good as the original but not bad enough to ignore like my first thought after the first episode. Give it another chance! Lol

Well count me out of the American hate thing.
By the time I was three my favorite singer was Elvis...and still is
By the time I was 7 my favorite car was a 57 chevy....and still is
By the time I was 9 my favorite actor was Clint Eastwood...and still is

the trouble is, all the antiwar brigade (and there is a lot of them) think you have to hate America and its the ones that dislike America that make the most noise.

Me, I love America and so do a lot of people I know. Espcially the ones that have been and dont just make their opinion have hardly met any Americans.

Anyway, are we getting off topic?

TOP GEAR IS COOL!

Is your Global Business Arms Dealing? I travel and have lived and worked abroad and I don't see the hate, just jealous teasing. And everyone, Canadians included say that when you visit the US, they are the best hosts. I have heard of and met the clichéd "ugly American" in my travels though. Seems many citizens travel with a chip on their shoulder.

Also Top Gear is more than the comedy show, it's a website, specials, Top Gear Live and an excellent magazine with some of the industry's best reviews. Give it another look.

Thats cool..I honestly don't know a single American that hates the UK (srs). I've literally never heard a dig on American TV about anything about the UK . We pretty much respect you guys and understand your differences with the war...

All my friends, family and work acquaintances in the UK and Europe love America and Americana. They still riff on it though. All in good fun and I give it right back.

I've been cursed at just for walking down the street in Germany
I've had a pizza virtually thrown at me in France
I've been confronted in English pubs because I was speaking an American dialect with my co-worker
I've been blasted for trying to use a credit card when the European society is heavily cashed based
In almost every conversation politics are brought up in a combative manner and I HATE talking about politics so I m not bringing it up.

The list could go on forever. I have many Canadian friends and they make sure that everyone knows they are Canadians when they travel...It's not a myth. I've never instigated a confrontation...I've never instigated a political conversation...Ive never been intentionally rude and I've never acted superior (because I'm not)....So yeah it exist and it's not in short order.

Seriously? That's unfortunate as me (OK, I'm a Canadian, but they can't tell the difference) and my friends from New York have met just one rude shoe store owner in 30 years of travel there. As for her, you can find rude and ignorant people anywhere. But I have to ask, if not an Arms Dealer, a McDonalds employee? Or do you wear a baseball cap inside? They go ballistic over that over there. I'm truly sorry to hear that you experienced that kind of reception.
