ECOBOOST Strange noise from motor help

Hi everybody,

My car has 600 miles, and a strange noise near the motor ...

It is like a " rubbing noise " I can hear when motor warm ( not at cold start )


It happens only at idle , After being driven.
Also sometimes the rpm gauge is fluctuating a little +- 100 rpm, and the car is shaking a little ....


Checked all the pipes from TURBO... all are tightened.
Checked the belt tension all good.

Please, if somebody has an EB one, can you tells me if it makes the same noise.

How does it sound in the engine compartment? It does not sound normal.

Hi, engine compartment you can hear the motor sound and also this strange sound.

It is located passenger side.

I checked Turbo pipes and others, exhaust etc but nothing.

It seems to come from the gearbox ...

To be honest it sounds like most direct injection turbo cars Ive heard. Does it get faster as you rev? I wouldnt be too concerned about it, nothing sounds broken to me.

On my video it is a bad sound quality, but the noise is exactly the same as you can hear in SilverSpoon9 one here :

My Ford dealer don't know anything, and also they can't replicate this sound ( or don't wan't to )

Only answer is : We will ask Ford and wait for them to reply ...

Another ecoboost at the dealer, 7000 miles, don't do this kind of noise...

If the noise goes away with the clutch pedal depressed, then it's most likely something in the transmission causing the noise. The input shaft to the transmission is turning and making parts move inside the transmission even in neutral with the pedal all the way up.

Probably not the throw-out bearing, because with the clutch pedal depressed is when the throw-out bearing is engaged and under load.

Will it do this when the transmission is cold, or only after being driven for some time to warm up the transmission oil?

When cold, no noise.

Also, if the car is driven, engine stopped, parked for a moment ( hours minutes no matter ) and started again ( warm ) , no noise. Only come after being driven a little, first trafic light you notice this horrible sound.

When this sound hapens, the car " shake " a little ...

Mine is making the same sounds, took it to the dealership they said its normal engine noises but I dont think so. Take it to a different dealership. let us know the results.

Yes for sure.

It is not a normal noise, as I said, at my dealer another ecoboost don't make this noise - I had to take it for a drive with the Salesman boss to prove them what I am saying....

Also, I don't know if it is the same on yours, but when I can hear the noise, if I stop engine, when the engine shut of I can hear the noise same time. It is not a normal sound for an engine stop.


Ford in France deliver you the car since only 3 weeks ( mine was ordered on March ) so when I asked something about this car they simply don't know ... I will let them my car next week to let them contact Ford France for this noise.

They also want to check injectors ...

To date, 800 cars for France ( 2015 ), 60 for my dealer incl. GT, no return for such noise except mine :-(

I am pretty sure it comes from the gearbox.

As I have time to study it myself, I tried to drive slowly, changing gears at lowest rpm available ... noise don't appear ... After that I drove it " normally "changing gears at +- 3000/3500 rpm and noise comes up ...

I will post any update. Please, keep me update too.

Re update

Hi,

Went to Ford yesterday .... they checked again; and think this noise can come from a bad injector, or motor seal ...

They checked and let me see and smell, oil level increased above max a little and oil smells fuel ...

Next appointment is 09/15/15 ... they will keep the car the whole week to check and give me a wonderful Fiesta meantime ...

I will come back, with I hope good news.

As of today my car is at the shop, had it towed in. Yesterday when driving it home from a few hundred mile trip the check engine light came on, then the break pedal became very hard to push and would only pulse, the low oil pressure light began flashing, and when I press down on the gas pedal the car is almost completely unresponsive ,along with loud clanking and grinding sounds coming from the engine/transmission.

Hope you get your car fixed man. I've read so many threads about annoying situations at Ford, with them thinking everything sounds normal. I hope to never have to take my car in.

Hi, just an update, My dealer checked it during a week, and they don't know what to do.
No TSB for EU mustang, no idea.

For them I only have to wait until something broke.

I will try with a US iported car specialist.
