How popular is matte finish when wrapping Mustangs in PPF? I'm curious what the different colors look like. How do metallics turn out?

Not sure how popular it is but I think the matte films look good on certain colors. I saw a Carbonized Gray S650 in matte film from factory and it looked really cool. The vibrant colors (yellows, blues, oranges, reds) look really good with the matte finish. Black is pretty cool looking too. Just have to be careful as far as cleaning goes. Can’t polish anything out and even have to be careful with waxes/coatings as some of them will make the matte finish glossy.

The cleaning and waxing issue is a concern. My racing bicycle has a flat finish and it hasn't always been a blessing. I think my next one will be something shiny and Italian 😁

There are matte-specific soaps and waxes/coatings out there. A regular pH neutral soap with no protection enhancements would be fine too. It’s really the waxes and coatings to be careful of.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that wraps get waxed, polished, etc. Just simply washed.
You can put a coating on wraps/films. Some people lightly polish regular PPF, I wouldn’t.

So then do people put ceramic coating over their PPF?
A lot of people do, yes. There are wrap/film specific coatings out there. A matte-specific coating would work fine on a matte film as well.
