I care about the small motors. Volume sellers. And I'd like to continue to stomp on all the bargain performers in my EB!4 cyl, v6...don't care. Ford needs DI and bumped compression in the Coyote and 10 speed auto in '17.
450+ hp and upper 20s/maybe 30 mpg highway would be a nice reaction to the new Camaro. I don't think some of you realise how much quicker the Camaro is going to be assuming same approx weight as the Mustang w/ 'only' 20 more hp...and deeper trans gearing. I have a feeling its mpgs might surprise us as well.
I do, however, worry that you are correct with regards to the V8s. I don't think 30mpg. But high 20s is likely (say, 27-28 or so). And if the cars do wind up weighing about the same, that 20HP will be a problem for GT owners. I was going to drive around this EB for two years or so, then upgrade to a used 15/16 GT when they start hitting the market.
Now I might have to wait and buy a new '17, to see if Ford reacts to this.
