Birds shit on my car yesterday and it sat in 90 degree heat for a few hours. I've found it to be etched into the clear coat, any options to remove that besides a dual action polisher?

That must be one hell of a shit..

Did you have anything protecting the car? Sealant? wax? anything?

Before you resort to polishing - I would recommend a whole hand wash. Then apply some wax (or my personal favorite - chemical guys mirror coat) to fill it in. See if that helps fixes it.

Sealant which is why I was surprised. I washed the car last night I might try some water spot remover on it to see if the acidity from that helps remove it. Than maybe hand polish with a compound. Fucking birds man.

Is it possible that its just the sealant that was etched?

A picture would be great!

Glad you were able to remove the blemish.

I had a problem with birds past. The following might be of help...

Birds used to nest in large bushes next to the house. They would use my courtyard as a toilet. Over even short intervals, it would start looking nasty, not to mention any clean-up.

If you did not know, birds don't like round objects; they perceive them as eyes of a predator.

Birds also don't like shiny and reflective objects; it gives them migraines.

What's round and shiny? Christmas ornaments.

I experimented with a few things and the best thing I did was buy several boxes of inexpensive Christmas ornaments. All round, some gold, some red, some silver. Some are like little disco balls.

Using dental floss as string, I placed the ornaments in the bushes they were nesting. I also placed some in windows facing areas where I knew they sat sometimes. You only need a few in each area.

99% of my problems are now gone. Some birds in-particular I watched and it was like kryptonite.

Ornaments aren't the only thing that works, but they are simple, cheap, plentiful and often effective.

Next time you are at Home Depot, look up at the roofline; they often have shiny glittering objects there. Gas stations nearby use a random recording of hawks screetching. Some use pie pans. Others still use lawn ornaments that are shiny and spin.

I would try something like Carpro TarX before a polish. Always start with the least aggressive method. If that does not work then use a finishing polish like Sonax Perfect Finish hand applied. Then move to the same polish but using a DA polisher.
