For years, I had been trying to find the ideal wash mitt for cleaning wheel faces and spokes. I had tired a variety of sponges, wash mitts, applicator mitts and brushes over the years but nothing felt "right". I wanted something that was naturally ergonomic and right sized for wheel cleaning. Earlier this year, I bit the bullet and payed the rather expensive freight to get some of these Flexipad lambskin wheel mitts delivered to me in Australia. Lets just say they ended up being WAY more expensive landed here than the $12 Obsessed Garage charges for them in the USA.

The concept here is that they are small enough to be convenient to put on and take off, but large enough to clean efficiently. I love how ergonomic they are to use and allow easy access to back of the spokes for a complete clean.

After use, I simply rinse them under running water and store them back in my wheel cleaning bucket. For $12 US, they are bargain for the functionality they provide. Highly recommend!

I have had one of those for a few years. Its amazing for wheels! I saw auto geek carried the foam ones, but they don't work as well.

You need to chop her out (complete with Busby) and make a new avatar with her in front of a white (and black stripe) 500 ... :cwl:

DF and Kilo, what are you using to get to the inner barrels to clean, when not removing the wheels?

James: I use these from OG. The larger one is the goto brush for the Mustang and I use the smaller one on the wife's narrower wheels.

I'm also following DFB's practice of not using wheel cleaner in the foam cannon any more often than necessary. Most of the time, the regular soap does a fine job, just as he mentioned.

I do have a 360-degree narrow stain on the plasma coating on one front. Next time I pull the wheels, I'm gonna have a go with steaming the surface, if I can figure out HOW to duit.

I DO love this big brush although I wish it had a rubber grip handle, it gets slippery with all the foam.

The spokes on the Velgens make it interesting to get back there without pulling the wheels.

When I would clean the PP1 wheels, I used red versions of the brushs kilobravo has.

I have included this pic as proof that they did actually need washing......................sometimes.

I used the small brush for getting around the caliper, and the large one for the rest of the wheel. The nature and action of this brush means it will also be able to clean the back of the spokes to a degree. Keep in mind a brush like this will inflict some marring of the finish, for some wheel designs there is no other way though.

Now that I have a more open wheel design, I have switched to the Incredibrush Flat. I do still need the smaller bristled brush for around the calipers.

I was hoping to avoid the marring. I may just resort to doing the deep cleaning when I remove them. I've got the lambskin mitts on the way.

Just some other ideas - you have to find what suits you and your wheels etc.

On the PP1 wheels I really like these :

That's the Megs medium brush which is really soft and has a nice foam handle. It will just about reach the back of a rear PP1 rim.

The green noodle glove is good for wanking the spokes and fingering around the brake bells and callipers etc.

For me, those two things have changed washing the PP1 wheels from it being a real ball ache to just about tolerable ... lol

Thanks, I do intend to play around with a few different items. I don't envy cleaning those PP1 wheels :)
