I must be one of the lucky ones. My 160 works perfectly

Would you mind posting a picture of your CHT at full warm? I'm curious

Well, your getting numbers myself and most others weren't with the evenflo. Now I have those numbers after switching.

Running E85 is going to lower Cylinder Head temps..... 10:1.....

Wish you could post oil and trans temps along with that CHT reading. With the EvenFlo mine would read 178 also....for about 20 seconds and then it said 179. ;-)

Yes I am running E-85 at the moment. However, still similar results on 91.

I have a Lund tune headed my way and got the 160 from Beefcake due to their recommendation. I'll first take some notes with the stock TS and then I'm going to try Livernois recommendation and use a 60/40 glycol mix with the 160 and I'll report my results.

I'm running an awesome duralast (autozone) 160 degree thermostat that cost me like 20 bucks and have no issues whatsoever cylinder head temps creep up to 190 on a full rpm hit but remain around 170 to 180 ish while cruising (depends on ambient).

The key is to properly bleed the system.
Anyone else running a $20 duralast? If so what results have you seen?

Thank you to everyone who explained how to change the thermostat, but I keep hearing how important it is to bleed it properly. How do you bleed it.

Thank you to everyone who explained how to change the thermostat, but I keep hearing how important it is to bleed it properly. How do you bleed it.
Step 1
Park your Mustang on a level surface. Wait for the engine to cool.

Step 2
Raise the hood to access the radiator cap. Remove the cap from the radiator and set it aside.

Step 3
Start the car. Let the engine idle until it warms to the normal running temperature. Turn the heater controls to full heat inside the car.

Step 4
Add coolant as necessary if the level drops below the full point in the radiator. Let the car run with the heat on until the coolant level seems consistent in the radiator.

Step 5
Turn off the engine and let it cool. Add more coolant if you need to in order to keep the radiator full. Replace the radiator cap. Close the hood.

Warnings
Do not attempt to remove the cap from a hot radiator. The system is under very high pressure and severe burns may occur.

So I installed my evenflo 160* thermostat and I'm still getting temps over 200. I had temps as high as 212*. Not happy! Guess I will be the next one making the switch.

Not surprised, that is what most of us have experienced.

Get the Reische 170 and your CHTs will be below 200.

Yes that's what I'm going to do. So do I need a new tune once I go from the 160 to the 170?
