There are several threads about how to do it, very easy but could be messy depending how you do it.

One method is to take off the pan under the front of the car, a whole lot of clips and bolts, then you drain the radiator from the petcock on the right side of the radiator. I did it like this once and it was draining fine until I opened the cap to the overflow bottle then it came streaming out so fast it missed my bucket and I lost about a QT of fluid.

The next time I just used a hose clamp (looks like vise grips that have flat teeth then squeeze the hose coming from the bottom of the radiator, I used an extra large ziplock bag that I got from Ace Hardware to catch any fluid coming out of the connection where the TStat is located. You loosen the two 8mm bolts on the hosing just below and to the right of the throttle body that has the bottom hose connected to it. The thermostat is inside of that hosing pull it out along with the gasket. If you have the 170 you wont need the gasket.

Hope that helps.
Easiest way to install the theromstat is to use a hose clamp. I didn't have to remove the pan or lift my car. Took 30 mins and barely lost any fluid.

I will post pics later.
That doesn't sound easy. I thought I just have to remove the old one and replace it with the new one, what fluid are you talking about?

I'm probably not going to do the installation myself, but I'd like to know just in case the installer has no idea.

I'll post some pics tonight. The hardest thing is the back 8mm bolt if you have big hands. I'll post a pic of the clamp too. It was only $8 on amazon.

I'm running an awesome duralast (autozone) 160 degree thermostat that cost me like 20 bucks and have no issues whatsoever cylinder head temps creep up to 190 on a full rpm hit but remain around 170 to 180 ish while cruising (depends on ambient).

The key is to properly bleed the system.

We are talking about the Even Flo 160 it sounds like the Duralast is working great. When I had the Even Flo 160 in I had CHT as high as 214 and never below 190 even driving slow with 30 degree outside temps..

It's not so much about brand it's design. It seems even Duralast knows how to build a T stat. The Reische looks identical to OEM the EvenFlo does not

Yeah that sounds as if the thermostat wasnt "even-flow"ing...seriously sounds as though the opening temp was off because thise are stockish temps, based on the components used in the reische 170 im sure its a better piece

The Evenflo opens at 160° like designed. I believe it's design is the flaw. It has 4 holes drilled in one end and OEM or Reische does not. I think this is causing some kind of bleed by or something.

Who the hell knows, it works, just not as good

I bought my Ngauge with the 160 thermostat, it was the only one they offered and did not do enough research.

Unopened and new...anybody want for free?

I was told that this thermostat change only is intended for and only benefits boosted engines, not for use on naturally aspirated. Any truth to this claim?

^^^ The prove that the 160 isn't as good as the Reische 170 is in this thread. Try searching before running your mouth.
I'm not running my mouth, but to say that the evenflow doesn't work as well because a few people reported issues is hardly enough evidence to say a Reische is better. I watched the previous threads on this, no search needed. If the 170 works for you, then great. My cylinder temps are significantly coole and right where I want them to be. I wouldn't want them any cooler.

Thanks for the pictures. I just hope my installer did this before so doesn't ruin it.

Regretfully I went with the Even Flo 160 as well, but will be switching to the Reische 170 before Spring. Not impressed with the 160 as far as it lowering CHT.
