So I just installed the 170 reische thermostat and now my OCD is kicking in and I am wondering what to look for to know it is working properly.

I am running the Lund Flex Fuel tune and know that cruising around I would hit 200+ CHT. I have seen people say that they have never gone over 180 with the reische. Idling after install to bleed air out of the system I was at 196-198 CHT.

Some people have some wildly low values but I haven't seen them and I daily my car and sit in traffic all the time. Mine have been about 10-15 degrees cooler. I use to see highs in the summer idling in place around 215, now it rarely breaks 200 for CHT. ECT rarely hits 190 now.

yeah, just idling the car to get the air out my ECT was 189-190, of course sitting in a garage with the heat on blast inside the car.

I just put in the Reische 170. Cylinder temps are now anywhere from 187-196. Average around 190-194 usually. Stock i was 200-215 so it was a nice drop.

I think maybe some people are reporting coolant temps (the lower number) and some are reporting cylinder temps (the higher number). As long as you generally aren't going over 200 degrees for your cylinder temps I would say your install is fine.

I installed the reiche 170 and saw absolutely no difference in my cylinder head temps. Took it in to troubleshoot 3 times. purged it and everything. My temps didnt change one bit after the install. still in the 205-215 range no matter what the outside temp is.

I'd contact Lund and have them make the fan strategy more aggressive, telling them that you have the thermostat.

Should still see lower temps when moving even if stock with the Reische. The fans only matter when you are sitting still. Something weird going on there.

Like said above a lot of people are reporting their actual coolant temp which they are getting from their NGauge. For those without an NGauge they are reporting their CHT which is typically 10* higher give or take a degree or two. So if your CHTs are 196 you could estimate that actual coolant temps are about 186* which is right on par with a 170* Tstat.

i contacted Lund. They said that all their tunes have written in to automatically adjust to a lower stat. And I seem to be the only one with a Lund tune that has this issue. I think imma just chalk it up to getting a bad stat and just buy a new one.

Agreed, either that, or you put your old one back in by mistake. lol. It could happen.

after driving around for a couple days I have only seen CHT hit 200 one time and it was after sitting at a stoplight for a considerable amount of time in the heat.

Seems to be working pretty well as I would pretty regularly hit 205-215 before.

I run the nGauge with Coolant Temp as well as monitor CHT on my dash.

This is my experience so far after a week since install.

I daily drive my Stang, it is my work car and I avg any where from 50-100 miles a day in stop n go traffic.

So far it is working as I had hoped.
