Has anyone put a REISCHE 170° Thermostat in a 2017 Mustang GT? I took one out of my 2015 & the housing is totally different in size. I've called 2 different shops that told me they shouldn't be any different & should be interchangeable but I'm finding otherwise.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I've put two in mine. No issues with size.

Which version do you have? I would assume you have the all metal version with no jiggler valve. They have a new gen2 version that has o-ring and center of thermostat has rubber instead of metal on metal. Gen2 version is like factory thermostat. But, I'm pretty sure they were the same size as each other.

Double check the part number and make sure you have the right one.

You probably got the one for an older 5.0 or a modular engine. Thermostat housing would be the same.

Does not fit out of a 15 to a 17. Here is a picture that clearly shows light shining through the housing. The stat out of a 15-16 is marked 56mm the one out of my 17 is marked 61mm
No its not. 15-17 are 61mm.

2007-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs use the 56mm stat.

I have changed my stock stat to an evenflo then to a reisch. They are all 61mm. I just even went into the garage to double check and 61mm all day.

They are all the same. Not sure what you have going on there. The big name vendors aren't leading you wrong they are right.

Are you sure you aren't installing it backwards or some shit? lol

And why is your housing all apart like that? That picture is confusing me. Thats not how the thermostat sits in the housing.

Can you explain that picture a little better?

More pics please! Brain farts are all good!
Youve come to right place.
I have a spare 54mm I misordered myself. Lol.
You want a 61-62mm.
If tstat that doesnt fit has 54mm stamped on it you need to get an older car or just reorder "Reische FORD-50".

All I know is the 56mm fit my 15 Mustang GT, it came straight out to be put right into my 17 & didn't fit. The picture shows the t-stat sitting in the housing with the gasket which just falls right through the opening.
I think the confusion is coming from the wrong size t-stat from the start, the 15 ledge in the housing came in further for the 56mm to sit proper with gasket but isn't the right size. This is all I can come up with that would make sense.
I have a picture showing the 170 t-stat clearly marked with a 56mm & my factory t-stat marked with a 61mm.
