Am I the only one who doesn't mind the oe spring. What's the problem ?

Does the replacement make it harder so more of a pain in traffic?
No no, just us good drivers don't need no new spring :shrug::crazy:

Mine was fitted by the garage that did my Eibach stuff yesterday, it really is better than stock IMO, slightly firmer and much better 1st–2nd. He said it was a piece of cake to fit so my suggestion would be try it and all the people that have done are wrong, swop back over. Cheap mod and a good one I think.

It is very easy to do, get your head down there, push the pedal to the floor with one hand and with the other grab and hold the entire spring tight and just move it out the side, then let pedal up.

Once you get used to it, literally a 10s job. :)

No, I can't say I've found any problem with shifts either. But when my dad and sister had a go in it, they both had some very rough changes - my dad bunny-hopped half the length of my driveway. They both drive automatics these days, but are both very good drivers who do a LOT more miles than me... so I do believe there is something in it.

I just haven't found it to be an issue personally. Maybe I've adapted to it subconsciously, maybe previous cars were similar, not sure. Doing a fair bit of city driving at the minute, but would be half-tempted to see what the fuss is about the Steeda spring when my wife gets a new car and I take her old one as my DD.

I found it an issue on my test drive back in December. It's no where near as bad as I remember. Also same with the brakes. I remember just touching the peddle and almost going through the windscreen. Has something been changed?
i think you just get used to it. picked it up last thursday and by friday i was tearing my hair out about how rubbish my changes were and regretting not getting another auto. but roll on a few days to today and it's not an issue anymore. still ordered a spring though and will fit it anyway, but i'm not as bothered as i was the other day. can't hurt anyway.

At first I did find the brakes took a few minutes to get used to when swapping from my old e36.

I'd get back into my Beemer and wonder why I was not stopping when I lightly touched the brakes at the end of my lane :D

Now I must of adapted, rather like when I owned a LHD Mercury and the RHD BMW.

Maybe your pads haven't bedded in yet.

Anyone know where you can get the stock spring assembly? When i took my spring out half of the assembly flew off somewhere, its nowhere to be found in the car (the seats & carpet have been out of the car anyway at the dealers so if it was under a seat, it isn't anymore)

Sorry to hear that, I had a go this evening and mine flew off as well, but fortunately I found all of the bits. I've driven about 10 miles, and I think its a worthwhile mod.

At least you can still drive the car whilst waiting for the parts, it may pay you to buy them direct from a Ford Dealer in the States,

These are constantly flying off the shelf here, and are proving very popular. As mentioned in some posts above, fitting is very easy and quick, but some care must be taken to avoid breaking the small plastic assembly.

Thanks for the support everyone! Still a couple in stock and another batch arriving soon...

Just changed the spring this morning, very easy job, hardest part is getting both hands in there

Had to take it out for a spin and it's definitely made a big difference, a lot more feel in the pedal

Fitted mine just now. Took less than 5 minutes, just took a bit of effort compressing the stock spring with vice grips. Replacement Steeda spring went in by hand with no problems at all.

If anyone is thinking about doing it, I can say it's definitely worth doing and makes a real positive difference.
