So... someone ELI5 this for me; does the spring reduce effort, or increase it? (on my leg). The clutch on mine is fine; easy to use, no crunching etc. It's FAR better than the demo car I tested in February. It's similar to the Monaro - and miles better than some of the older cars I've owned.
I'm the same I love the standard clutch and have no issues what so ever I think the people that are noticing the issue more are people coming from more normal/sedate cars those used to horribly engineered beasts (why hello ford tolerances) have no issue with it.

Thanks both; I'll stick with stock for now. I can see why, at £20, it's a no brainer.. but it wasn't a brainer to begin with for me. I like the effort - I wouldn't want it any lighter, and coming from the Viva (breathe and it's on the floor) or DeLorean (fire a cannon at it to move it) it's kinda nice :p

Its not the overall feel of the clutch as far as I've been told, its the transition through the centre that can feel "oversprung" from the factory, meaning jerky clutch control rather than a smooth release. But either way, if you are happy with stock, and have no issues, then there is no need to change anything!

Ah well now you mention it, you can't really tell at times, but I'm fine with it, but I'm sure when I need to scratch the itch of modding i'll end up with yours ;)!

Hi willisit the spring makes controlling the clutch pedal easier as it makes the transitions easier to cope with, being a lighter spring rate.

Some people (generally who are used to the type of car / clutch) have no real issues, and dont see that much difference with the Steeda spring, other people swear by it. Either way for less than £20 its a 'no lose' option for manual drivers.
I'm correct in thinking it makes the clutch heavier though, ie it requires more effort on the drivers part therefore giving more feel?
Also, as I remember it where the "no lose" becomes a "lose" is if you were to want to re-fit the stock spring; that job being a b@stard and no mistake? Not that I can recall ever hearing of anyone wanting to do that.

SteveS the stock clutch spring is 185 lb/in rated whereas the Steeda one is 35 lb/in so a lot lighter. As i mentioned above, the idea is to stop the powerful stock spring "snapping up" the pedal in mid transition resulting in an effective 'clutch kick'.

Fitting should be a simple & quick job as long as care is taken, and the same to swap back should you wish to do so, as far as I know, not that I have ever heard of anyone swapping back as you say.

If you want to feel the difference in clutch feel give me a shout. I have replaced the spring

I installed it yesterday and definitely improved the feel and the engagement with the transmission. Though, when the pedal is all the way up, there is a bit of a play. The pedal travels up and down for a few millimeters before I start feeling resistance. Is this normal? Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
