The sound tube: Keep or Delete?

Left it because I do like the sound. I also don't spend enough time looking at my engine bay to care if it is there.

It's big & ugly....and what a pain to remove

i used a b f screwdriver to remove. i didnt even know it was bolted down on the firewall. yanked like hell also.

Extra weight (granted, only a pound or 2) and like everyone said, if you have aftermarket exhaust it's useless for sound.

I would like to see someone design a tube that incorporated a Telsa fluid diode one way valve type of technology. This way if we are having any kind of pressure waves from the helmholtz effect created by the intake manifold it would not escape the intake tube. It would make for a silent intake as well. No more whistles or low frequency intake noises. possibly more power. Not sure if it would really increase power, but it would help with reducing intake noise with out increase in flow turbulence. Would look totally unique and radical at the very least.

Ok... So playing dumb here because I don't know. Exactly what is the benefit of the sound tube delete? Is it quieter inside the cabin???

Just installed a Borla ATAK today and it's pretty loud. It's really loud in Sport + with the auto transmission. So if the sound tube delete makes it a little quieter then I'm in. If I want to hear the ATAK's I can just roll down the window. Thanks

Sound tube acted as an amplifier for drone when I installed my Borla S-Type.

Deleted my sound tube and I don't regret it.

I have the Borla S Type catback exhaust and figured I was getting too much interior engine noise. After 2 hours of fighting that damned nut on the firewall and freeing the 2 fasteners & clamp I threw the damned thing as far as I could in frustration lol. Blowfish Racing makes a $10 Sound Tube delete kit. I put some Permatex gasket material on the plug for the firewall and let it set for 24 hours and it's not going anywhere now. I do have less interior sound. Not much, but it is noticeable. I'm glad I did it. I love all the room now on the drivers side of the engine compartment as well.

First thing I did to the car when I got it was take that thing out. Used the Blowfish Racing kit, which is just a firewall plug, a large vacuum cap for the intake, and a hose clamp. I didn't bother with trying to remove that infamous nut, just grabbed the tube and yanked it out- very easy.

Delete. Racheting flex head wrench helps with getting the nut off.

i used a bf screwdriver and yanked. took a while but i won. swearing like a madman helps and keeps the neihbors wondering!

Mine came off pretty easy actually, just a couple of firm tugs.
