Just got back from Disney. Here are a few pix I took that I think turned out well. Not mustang related, sorry. I have an idea to shoot my car with, but have not had time.
Really nice work, Scott! I like!

Both were with Nikon D750.

So much want. :hail:

Just can't justify switching over to FX lenses as the only one I have now that would work is my 50mm f1.8. All my other lenses would vignette so bad I could put them on a salad(lame vinaigrette joke is lame).

If I won the lottery....

14-24 f2.8
24-70 f2.8
70-200 f2.8
400 f4
50 f1.4(or f1.2) maybe Sigma Art
20 f1.8
Sigma 200-500 f2.8(just kidding!)

Grimace, I started with 1 FX lens (50mm 1.4) when I switched over from my D7000. There are tons of good nikon used lenses out there in the $300-$500 range. Look up a guy on youtube called "The Angry Photographer". His entire Schtick, is to point out all the 5-10 year old lenses that are every bit as good as the new stuff for 1/4 of the price.

Keep your DX as a back up body, and add 1 lens here or there. Sooner or later you will have what you need.

I know that guy, hard to listen to sometimes haha. I used my dad's 50mm f1.8D before grabbing the G model and found it to be just as sharp. Things I like about modern lenses are VR/VC/IS for hand held shots which are 90% of the shooting I do. I'll check out older lenses that have remained popular like the 105mm macro.

I think I'm starting to get into portraits which is odd since I generally hate people. Another reason for FX due to the better DoF and low-light performance.

Definitely going to keep my 7200 since it works so damn well for just walking around.

I just got a D7200 a few weeks ago and picked up an FX 50 f1.8 as my first lens. I now have a chance to get my second lens and think i will stick with FX lenses since I will probably get an FX camera in the future (but keep my 7200 as a backup). I don't want to have to sell any glass I have and rebuy the same focal lengths. I also dont want to get any lenses that I might consider upgrading in the future, so like you I'm looking at the 14-24 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8. I don't have quite that much to spend at the moment, so my next lense will likely be the micro-nikkor 105 f2.8. I think it will work well as a longer focal length for outdoor photography as well as for any macro stuff I want to do.

I'm also looking at Tamron and Sigma versions of the popular lenses as they seem to be knocking down the door to Nikon and Canon benchmark lenses at much more competitive prices. The Sigma 17-50 f2.8 will probably be my next lens for real due to its price(less than $450 new) and it fits most of my focal range use. After that I'll save up for a 70-200 f2.8 for any sports or birding then if/when I upgrade to FX I'll trade the 17-50 for a 24-70 due to the similar focal range with the crop factor.

edit: if looking at the 105 macro, consider comparing the Nikkor to the Sigma version as I'm reading some good things about the Sigma such as better chromatic aberration control.

Those are great!

So who all here photographs on Manual mode all the time? That's all I use
Not I. I use aperture priority exclusively. I keep my ISO as low as possible for the shooting conditions and let the camera decide the shutter speed. It just makes things quicker and allows me to get the shot I want.

Looks awesome and they look more 20" a great design.
Thanks.

I'm actually waiting for my new wheels to show up. 20x10 +30 Volk G25s in the dark prism color. I've had them on order since October 2015. Last status update I got was for a late May delivery. That's longer than I waited for my car, LOL.

I haven't posted these here yet, but I grabbed these last weekend. Slight learning curve on darker shots, but I'm getting there. Figured out I need to get a shutter remote. I left the shutter open on a tripod for almost 20 seconds on a few shots, but still came out blurry. Figured out it was from my hand pushing the button.

Nice! You can always set the timer for like 2 seconds, that's what I do on a tripod.

New Photo from the other night. Probably my favorite photo I've taken of this car. I just think everything came together so well in this shot.

 You kill me with these shots man. I. Hate. You. Lol.

Me too. I like controlling every aspect of the shot.

I looked at the sigma as well because it was on sale (and cheaper than the nikkor). It seems like they are both VERY similar in iq (different reviews went either way). I ended up deciding on the nikkor 105 for two reasons:

1) it will work better with Nikon teleconverters

and more importantly fore me

2) the focus ring give an extra 100 degrees of rotation which is said to allow for more precise manual focusing at longer distances (the sigma was said to be a bit touchy for long distance focusing)

Definitely good to know, I look forward to your impressions on the 105mm though I'm not exactly in the market for that right now.

Curious you mentioned being touchy for long distance focusing since that is usually easier than macro focusing which is what that lens was meant for. I would totally agree that having a more precise focus-ability would be very useful when you have a shallow DoF.

I played around with aperture priority yesterday at home shooting out the side window. The sun was going down but was still fairly bright but with heavy shadows around the trees and such. I set ISO between 800-1100 and the aperture at 5.6(on a 70-300 f4-5.6) and the shutter ranged from 1/200 all the way up to 1/1600 but the shots were quite good. I'll definitely use that from time to time when I'm walking around.

Also took photos of my dogs that were being lit by the setting sun through the window but that was more difficult as the camera metered the light off the bright parts of their fur(Boston Terriers that are black but with some white on their faces) so I had to switch back to manual for that.
