The Thunderbolt and Corsair are definitely up there in my favorite's list.
I love the p51, but for me it's the P47N and the F4U. I love those and I switch between the two for my favorites. The N is HUGE!
Three words;

Baa. Baa. Black sheep.

Wait......4 words......it's 4 words.

I like P51s but I still prefer the original Merlin powered bus, the Spitfire. But nothing quite sounds like a full on fly past by a Merlin. Sends shivers up my spine.

Johnny, I'm pretty sure the Mustangs had their original Allisons replaced by the Merlin, increasing performance/speed at altitude. At least that's how I remember the story from Dad...

That is a fantastic picture. Love the plane and LOVE that color GT350.

A few weeks ago there was a Mustang show here at one of the flight museums in Houston. I missed the day when they had the P-51 on hand but the day I went they had the show cars intermixed in the hangar with the bombers and other planes and it was really awesome.

For the first time since I was a teenager I got to see the B-17 up close. I love that plane.

Same here. I get all nerdy over WW2 aircraft.

I think he was talking about the British Spitfire having the Merlin before the Mustang.

^I see, got it. And a storied history the Spitfire has to be sure. Plus one of the most beautiful wing designs ever...

If we are talking British WWII aircraft I have to side with the Hawker Fury/Sea Fury and the sound of that radial engine.

^ I'm partial to a radial piston engine myself, quite a distinctive sound. I had the good fortune to have served in an airwing that had 2 squadrons of radial piston-engined aircraft. While not glamorous by any stretch, the S2Tracker had dual Wright R-1820s and when a flight of those fired up it was glorious!
