Does anyone have an opinion as to whether it would be a problem by not installing the brushed metal frame over the top of the clear Plexiglas? Just screw the glass down by itself?

Plexiglass glass question

I can't imangine the plexiglass not being ridgid enough, its prrobably there to protect the plastic from marring up the holes when the hardware is installed,Nice stainless washers will help that out,Im assuming this is for an aftermarket airbox,If not sorry for the intrusion.

So i know some people report losing time in a 1/4 mile after installing CAI, would it be better to just get a green filter and keep the rest stock?

See I fd up,I bought my mit pipe and air cleaner first, then bought one of those cheese blow off valve adapters,And the adapters kill the turbo recovery, made it soggy,So the stock one went on,Then I proceeded to buy the cobb, then Paid for the life time tune plus and trans tune package,Bought adams turbo smart extra sprung wastegate, and bought the offroad down pipe,

The cobb 91 stock setup tune is descent from 3500 on up,but makes the throttle response soggy down low, lost alot of tip in torque converter tranny response,So I now run the stock tune until I can buy an intercooler which I should have done first,Data logging shows 170 degrees of inlet temp after the intercooler on the stock and cobb 1 tune,I should have bought the intercooler first because now I can't use anything I've purchased for the car. Oooops lol

If I where to do it again,Id do the intercooler, then the intake pipe filter mod, then the O/R down pipe with the o2 extension as not to trip an o2 deficiency code,Which I have for the down pipe,I won't install that until I get the pipe ceramic coated.

I'm also going to ceramic coat the intercooler inlet pipes as well once I buy the front mount kit from whomever.Little things add up to control the temps.Works on my turbo race cars.Gotta work for this crap.

The very first thing I bought that was totally worth the money was the upr dual valve catch can system, and brisk non projectile/protrusion plugs for the coyote 5.0,I gapped the plug a little tighter, and have never had a problem with detonation. The factory gaps where all over the place on my plugs,The can was huge in helps of oil getting back in the intake and killing the octane.I drain the can every 3000 miles,Depending how much you pound on the car,you may have to drain it more frequently.I tend to just cruise my car with the occasional 90 mph rip.The car doesn't do that much for me,other then it being a nice cruiser. Having bottom 12 sec power would make the car a bit more enjoyable for sure. But there's a turbo 427 car sitting around for the good times. No need to beat the shit out if this barge.

I just bought the wife a 17 turbo 4 camaro,Been on the camaro 6 site trying to figure out some of the qurks with that thing,Fn dealer put 87 octane in the tank and all the car did the first day was lspi and detonate like it had nails in the motor for oil,Made me sick to my stomach,It required two cans of 108 additive and a slight top off of 91 just to get it to quite down 50 percent,Ive allready made the call to the dealership over it,Hoping 91 cures it,Mind you I live in phoenix and it was in 65 degree air when this was happening,I hope 91 will be enough in 110 plus degree heat,If not it's off to the dealership with less then a 100 miles on it.Other then that it's a riot to drive.

Proof of gains?

Has anyone dyno'd the Airaid intake vs stock without any tune involved?

I already installed one and I've had it in for a couple of weeks, but I can't tell if the gains are all in my head, all from the tune, or some combination of everything, and I'm also seeing IATs about 20 degrees higher than the stock box on average. Is that any cause for concern?

I'd be most interested in seeing those results from either an end user or a neutral 3rd party - i.e. somebody who isn't selling this intake or a competing one.

I like the aesthetics and the sound of it so even if I don't actually GAIN anything I'd keep it, but if there's any loss at all I'll just put the stock box back and get a drop in.

Correction on the cobb stage 1 tune,Just revised the handheld a couple of weeks ago and the cobb stage 1 91 def feels better then the first go around not sure if they changed their tune but it does run darn good,Im sure nothing like Adams tunes but it's not bad for a load and go.
