As some others may empathise, I just cannot make up my mind to go Hellion, Whipple or Procharger
I have read and re read endless threads.
So here's the thing, i travel a lot and have limited time for spannering my potentially blown up car.
We only have access to 95 at best . i assume 7 or 8 psi being about it to remain safe.
Could do meth but just more hassle.

I have decided to make the decision on the FI that will give most HP per pound of boost, coupled with least destructive to engine all things being equal.

The whipple and procharger are great but load crank snout and eat up power to be driven.

That leaves Hellion. most power per psi [which helps when fuel limited]
And no crank or OPG hassles.

Am I missing something ? I just feel for my use the Hellion will deliver best ?
I am sure i am not the only one sitting on this fence.

Veteran,

I was exactly where you were for nearly a year. Back and forth on what to do.

I was ready to order the Hellion for the reasons you mentioned. I talked to a friend of mine with a mechanic shop. Lots of coolant and oil lines running up and down, lots of fittings, car goes down the road shaking from road imapcts, leaks can happen with the Hellion. Ford had this issue on the Ecoboost when they first came out. But I am not saying you will have any issues at all, but if it can happen . . . . .

Whipple makes fantastic power down low and everywhere else, but traction is a major issue down low. Also lots of lines, hoses, electric water pump, reservoir, fluid filled heat exchanger, etc. Adds roughly 150#'s to the front end of the car. Will require some serious, sticky, wide rubber for off the line and low speed to hook at all.

Procharger is very simple, no extra pumps, coolant lines, oil lines, and extraneous support plumbing. Power comes on later and higher up, giving you a slightly better chance at decent traction. IAT's are very low as well, in my region of the country this is important. Cooler and simpler is good.

I went with the Procharger.

Turbo is the most Bang for your buck but definitely a lot more install and maintenance. Whipple is a great option. pro charger if you’re worried about stress on the crank you can get the H.O smog legal kit. it puts the procharger on the crank pulley without any spacer or added pulley

And how is water/meth a Hassel? When you put in gas you put in water/meth. it even has a sensor that tells you when it’s low. Also 95 Is very good for daily

I have the procharger HO smog legal kit and it mounts the procharger in the same location as the vortech. It is capable of the same power as the stage2 because the head unit is the same. If you install a +20% balancer you are almost at the same power

I had water meth in my Noble. when the system gives problems, which mine did, you can’t go into boost .
Also meth adds another item to carry.
Its manageable sure, but I’d prefer not to . At 7 or 8 psi meth isn’t needed in any event.
The option remains though .

If you have access to 95 octane I would run 12 psi Without any worries. Also the smog legal kit comes with the stage2 intercooler at least where I bought it it did

Great summary. Couldn’t have said it better.
Any regrets not going Hellion ?

I believe 95 in Italy is the same as US 91 octane.

I like the strategy of using less boost from a more efficient system, but I wouldnt expect turn-key no-hassle reliability from a turbo system.

I have about 20 years of experience with procharger... From their first kits to race kits and everything in between. I currently have a hellion TT s550 making North of 1000.. BUTTTTT if it was actually my sole daily driver, it would be procharger powered. I've had several procharger DD's and loved every one of them.
Got this today from a customer.

Procharger stage 2 d1x, 18k miles on it, not one issue period. No belt issues, Great iat, just get in it and drive it anywhere and makes great power. Couldn’t imagine doing anything different ever! Easy to service if needed. That coolant over flow tank location on the vortech/paxton kits a a joke.
Thomas Price

Ran the P1X on my 19. Super easy install and feels bone stock until you get on it. ~800hp 9.89@144 with no return system
Stephen Phelps

I got 80k on mine and about to.be at 850 to wheels on stage 2 with it

Here are more from yesterday...

Just my opinion but. The coolant expansion tank location is better on the vortech than on the smog legal procharger which is comparable to the vortech kit.
Procharger makes a great product. the tuning is a joke and the service is even worse.
I would compare procharger tuning to bama.
But with a aftermarket tune you won’t have any problems.

I went whipple because of a lot of reasons. Basically no extra maintenance, no waiting for boost, easy install, cheap, massive potential, cool sound etc. Havent got the kit yet though.
