The end of "Ford" Shelby cars?

I like the Shelby name. I think it's great that Ford has this history. The brand x competition uses XLZ or whatever letter combination they've decided on this week. I hate that! I think it's because they don't have anything better. Mach is an ok name but doesn't do much for me. I never really liked the Boss 302 name very much. Boss 429 is better, but only because of the fabulous engine they put in those cars.

Having said that, I don't think the name makes the car more or less valuable. The car makes it valuable. I was never interested in the previous Shelby GT350s that were almost identical to factory Mustang GTs. I also don't think if Ford stops using the name Shelby that our cars will become more valuable. They are just used cars now. Great driving, but not incredibly rare or anything.

I hope Ford can keep using the Shelby name, but if not, my decision on whether to buy a car will be based on that car's performance and desirability to me more than the name.

IF this becomes somewhat official - I think it will be less to do with him not being around and more an ROI comparison between the value of the market relevance of the name and the costs associated with continuing to license it.

GM has some really stupid names. Zl1, 1le, z06, zr1,zr2,z77 etc.
Ford has had. Mach1, boss 302-351-429, cobra jet, cobra, twister, Shelby gt350-500, bullitt, California special.

I think the 15/16 says shelby on the sill plates as well, and the engine signature plate too...so 2017 only has it on the engine plate and front splitter.

Everyone that comments on my car calls it a Shelby, not a GT350. That is what it is known to the masses.

Personally, I would like to see things go back to the way it was up to 2004 - MUSTANG / MUSTANG GT / COBRA (or Mustang Cobra)

I miss those - simpler, less "exclusive" Not really into that...And, yes, the man is dead...are there any up-and-coming new legends, or will we just continue to idolize the past...what does the future hold?

Doesn't it say it on the strut brace and the sill plates? Both of which were changed in 2017.

The sill plates were cool looking and the fact that they changed them to only says Ford Performance, says something is going on (to me). What that something is, not sure but I have a hunch.
