Doesn't it say it on the strut brace and the sill plates? Both of which were changed in 2017.

The sill plates were cool looking and the fact that they changed them to only says Ford Performance, says something is going on (to me). What that something is, not sure but I have a hunch.
Not on the strut brace. Only the sill and splitter for 2016. I don't think the strut brace was changed for 2017; since all 2017 have the Track Pack, all 2017's have the 2016 Track Pack aluminum strut brace.

Sorry, I thought you meant on the outside body. But I don't remember my strut brace saying "Shelby". The sill plates say GT350 in large gt350 font letters and Shelby in small letters.

Personally, I would like to see things go back to the way it was up to 2004 - MUSTANG / MUSTANG GT / COBRA (or Mustang Cobra)

I miss those - simpler, less "exclusive" Not really into that...And, yes, the man is dead...are there any up-and-coming new legends, or will we just continue to idolize the past...what does the future hold?
I like Shelby more, but Ken Block is very good. It's going to be difficult to beat Shelby's accomplishments in driving, designing and building cars. He stands head and shoulders above the crowd. Now much larger teams are needed to make a new car design that will beat everything out there on the track or the streets.

Cobra is an OK name and appropriate IMO for performance cars.

IMHO, the only vehicles worthy of the name "Shelby" are the 1965-1968 GT350s & GT500s and the 2015-2017 GT350s. The latter are Shelbys in name only. I think it's time for Ford to resurrect the "Cobra" marque as the performance Mustang, which has its own homage to Shelbys of yore.
Just curious why you suggest that the 1968 GT350/GT500 cars were worthy of the Shelby nameplate and not the 1969 and 1970 Shelby's?

I'm assuming because the body style and engines changed from the original model...

This is a Shelby too:
The Shelby GLHS is actually faster by about 2 seconds around Willow Springs when it was tested against a 65 GT350.

Shelby's relationship with Ford was not BFF all the time.....lending his name to Chrysler was due to his friendship with Lee Iacocca. Iacocca was at Ford in the 60's and is said to be responsible to bringing Ford & Shelby together on the Mustang.....the rest is history as they say.

From a marketing perspective, it really was genius on Ford's part to rekindle the relationship. Its really what started the ADM craze when the 2007s came out. It targeted the baby boomer generation, who were there to see the originals....and now have disposable income to relive their youth in the form of new Shelby mustangs. Here now in 2015 with all the nostalgia of 50th anniversary of the mustang, it was fitting to make a GT350...and appeal to those same baby boomers. As someone in my mid 30s, I can appreciate what Mr. Shelby accomplished in the 1960s, but I also would say that he was VERY good at putting his name on anything in the name of a buck.....from 1960s fords to 1980s Chrysler products. Then, on to chili, to the various licensees in the early 2000s building continuation cars, (most were filled with controversy)and then back to ford in the mid 2000s. If I remember correctly, he even filed a lawsuit against SAAC to gain control of the registry... some thought so he could add whatever he wanted to the registry. The purist's that ran it didn't want to give him control. At least for me, I was always an SVT Cobra fan, so I guess I wonder if Shelby's name is really needed going forward. The name "shelby" being on this car had no bearing on the purchase, at least for me...If anything, It made me understand up front that this was going to be a process that was going to be stressful, challenging, and frustrating, purely because of the name.

I had one in high school too, what a piece of shit. Mine had a rough life and then I got ahold of it when I was 16. Hopefully my 2017 Shelby is a better car.

There was a pristine '07 GT500 sitting on a local used car (No Haggle) lot all Summer. Only mods were aftermarket Shelby wheels and exhaust. Car had +/- 3,500 miles on it and they had it priced initially at $34,999. They don't negotiate but will drop the price every month if the car sits. I think it got down to $32,999 when someone finally bought it.....I remember when dealers were asking $10, $15, $20K ADM's for those cars........

I owned three turbo Daytona's in the 80's and early 90's including an 89 Shelby Daytona they were all great little cars. As fast or faster than the Mustangs and Camaros of that era and got great gas mileage. They were also trouble free, one had 240,000 miles on when my son totaled it the Shelby had 176,000 miles when I decided to thin the herd.

I like the Shelby name on my GT350. Hell its only on there once. If it were not for him ford would not have the fan base they have today.

It would be sad to see the name go, but I wouldn't mind as I actually call this current car GT350 more than Shelby. Also, the S197s Shelbys I usually call them Cobra more then Shelby, so as long as they keep the Cobra logo and name, I'm good.
