I understand both sides of the argument. Both sides have great points. Personally speaking, the idea of paying ADM hurts, but what can I do? I've fallen in love with the Shelby GT350, and so I will moan and groan (in private) but in the end I will probably just suck it up and purchase it anyway. I just hope I can minimize the hurt

My philosophy. Pulled the trigger on a '17 allocation. Regret nothing. Feels good to be locked in.

Since I was a Corvette fan for so many years, I'd really have to think twice about dropping ~$80K on a GT350 (MSRP of ~$60K + $20K ADM) vs going with the Vette. But I would say that the GT350 would hold it's value better, and be more rare on the streets than the Vette.

I've had a lot of sports cars over the years, and for me I can't justify paying huge ADMs. I'm happy with my $39K GT Premium which was had for $3K below MSRP. If I actually came across a screaming deal on a new GT350 I would however be tempted.

Anyone with a GT350 should be happy, regardless of what it cost you because everyone controls their own decisions of what they buy, and how much they pay.

Yes, near-term the 350 will depreciate in smaller increments while long-term that 350 would hold its own and likely appreciate more than its orig msrp. But these cars are to presently enjoy on the road & track first and foremost... they shouldn't sit collecting air. That's my opinion anyway and I think C. Shelby would highly approve. ;)

I'd like to give an earnest deposit to ford for the next GT500 ;)
Seen a GT3RS at cars and coffee a couple weeks ago. Should have snapped a pic. Was beautiful! It was in the performance shop and didn't know what was getting done to it, but had the whole back seat area torn out. Friend is getting a GT3 this week. He purchased at MSRP, took him a LONG time to find it at MSRP, but he said it was easier than an R at MSRP. Less dealers to call LOL

Yup... and RS's at MSRP is a lottery win IMO. Lucky SOB!

I'm a car enthusiast above all and the C7s are a damn compelling alternative. Considering you can get a very nice, low-mileage Z51 for ~ $60K or less puts it in the same ballpark price-wise as well.

But, as you pointed out the depreciation and rarity is a big plus for the GT350. Assuming you spent $60K on either one today I would bet heavily on the Shelby holding more value down the road. A $20K ADM would certainly destroy that value prop but the market is softening on non Rs.

C7's are fast & fun for sure.... 350's are also fast & fun but much more of a rare sight.

Once you have it and drive it and enjoy it daily... that ADM you paid (hopefully a small or fair amount) will quickly dissipate. No other manufacturer, domestic or import, can presently replicate the new Shelby GT350's soul, heritage, and character. :usa:

After the first 5 pages here on ADMs I just had to jump to the end and chime in.

1) California dealers 'as a whole' are out of touch with Ford's desire to move cars into the hands of customers;
2) The 2015 year's production numbers are often used by some dealers/salesmen to bait and inflate the 'rarity' of the GT350, especially the 'R', further fueling the buying frenzy;
3) The dealer/salesperson’s idiotic sales model of ‘milking’ more $$$ on the 'one-car-deal' instead of cultivating a happy, return customer who refers others to that dealer, is painfully obvious here in California. It’s a free marketplace, we all get that, but common sense dictates that the latter creates longer-lasting relationships and ultimately more money in the dealer’s coffer.

Several weeks ago a nearby dealer in San Francisco’s north bay wanted $60k ADM on a 2016 ‘R’ they’ve yet to order. They’d already sold a 350 for $25 ADM before that. He texted me the other day asking if I was still interested in ordering the ‘R’ for that same $60k ADM, and that I should hurry because they’re advertising it on their website for $80k ADM!

But not ALL dealers are out of touch. On 4/15 I wandered into a smaller Ford dealer up north while my friend was having his Subaru serviced nearby – and got my deal in writing for the only 2017 ‘R’ they’ve been allocated – at MSRP – Sold!

When asked of the owner of that dealership why he sold to me at MSRP, he responded, “Unlike most dealers, I want to get the cars into the customers' hands ASAP. The quicker I move the cars, the more are allocated to me. That's what Ford wants us to do.”

Before walking into that dealership I was certain that an 'R' could never be had for MSRP - So, they ARE out there.

While speaking to dealerships looking for my deal, I was offered the 2016s that they had in stock. 3 local dealers who just a month ago stuck firm to their asking price of 69K for 2016 gt350 is offering to sell them to me for $63K without even me asking. they sounded desperate enough had I wanted the 2016, they would probably let it go for 1-2k over MSRP at this time.
