Wow, I never really thought of it that way. Very well articulated!
Hey - we know you work for a dealership. Please don't use this line on your next customers! ;)

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :ford:

I happily spent $2K over to get mine and have already put a deposit down on a 2017 R with $5K ADM. Never lose a seconds sleep over it either as I am comfortable the market has proven neither was a bad decision.
Bro, I just lost respect for you.

Put some respeck on my name!

Respect is also lost when a man can't make decisions for himself for fear what others might think. At the end of the day 55k vs 65k or 75k for a glorified toy is silly in the eyes of most pragmatic individuals.

My money, my decision, anyone that might "lose respect" for me over it isn't worth keeping within arms reach either way.
Agreed, no one "needs" a Mustang GT or 350. They are "toys". Sure some have made them into daily drivers, but if money was truly the issue here, they would not be the practical choice (think smart car). I suspect some on this forum would even argue that people are stupid for buying a new car below MSRP due to the fact that it loses thousands of dollars in value the second you drive off the lot. Some people will never buy new for this reason and only buy used. Does it make someone that buys a new car below MSRP stupid? Of course not...

At the end of the day, people will purchase what they can afford (some will buy what they can't afford and suffer later) and it is a personal choice. Buy new, buy below MSRP, buy used, pay ADM.... Why does it really matter?

You don’t want to know
Respect is lost when someone admits to such a choice. This is why I'd never pay it. If I couldn't admit it to others, I certainly couldn't respect myself for making such a decision. It's the whole premise for this thread when you think about it, trying to come to grips with paying it. I knew I never could which is why I chose to not consider it. It would have ruined my ownership experience. Every time I'd look at a car I paid an ADM on I'd see my own failure in the decision to buy it :tsk:
Wow ... just wow. Is self-esteem really built upon things such as what car you drive and what you paid for it (which is no one's business but your own)?

Hey, if he drives an SHO he must not be too far off on his pricing???

:eyebulge::eyebulge:
OK, so I was wrong (clearly I have not been shopping six figure vehicles) but what the hell does what I currently drive have to do with that?

Just having a bit of fun and certainly no harm intended.

Your SHO is a fine Ford automobile but since you seem to enjoy and have a passion for Mustangs I suggest that you move up to a GT350 unless you have already made that move and if so congratulations.

It's been a great car, but I joined this board as I am looking to move to a GT350. It will be my third Mustang - I had a '94 and a '98 Cobra years ago.

Gonna be a while before I am looking for a GT3RS though. LOL

So much salt in one thread!

I'm 25 just finishing my Engr Degree and bought a Gt350R for 20k ADM

If you want the car buy it! If you don't, don't! There are plenty of Hellcats, Z06's, and maybe even a prius's for you.

Everyone complains including me but the car is worth more than 65k

Yes, the price on a GT3RS is $200,000 plus and that is if you can get one at MSRP.

Good luck with your search for a GT350!

Just can't get enuff!
MSRP on a new GT3 RS is impossible unless you gave a 10k+ deposit to a dealer like 5-tears ago or bought a 918 Spyder or a VIRC (very important repetitive client). :D

Yes people do that.... Porsche addicts give huge deposits on cars not even introduced yet. The 991.2 RS already has waiting lists and we may not even see that for quite a few years from now. I'd be happy with a 991.2 GT3... I'm one of those who has an earnest deposit for one in the future (MY2018 I bet). :headbonk:

Since I was a Corvette fan for so many years, I'd really have to think twice about dropping ~$80K on a GT350 (MSRP of ~$60K + $20K ADM) vs going with the Vette. But I would say that the GT350 would hold it's value better, and be more rare on the streets than the Vette.

I've had a lot of sports cars over the years, and for me I can't justify paying huge ADMs. I'm happy with my $39K GT Premium which was had for $3K below MSRP. If I actually came across a screaming deal on a new GT350 I would however be tempted. :)

Anyone with a GT350 should be happy, regardless of what it cost you because everyone controls their own decisions of what they buy, and how much they pay.

I'd like to give an earnest deposit to ford for the next GT500 ;)
Seen a GT3RS at cars and coffee a couple weeks ago. Should have snapped a pic. Was beautiful! It was in the performance shop and didn't know what was getting done to it, but had the whole back seat area torn out. Friend is getting a GT3 this week. He purchased at MSRP, took him a LONG time to find it at MSRP, but he said it was easier than an R at MSRP. Less dealers to call LOL

I'm a car enthusiast above all and the C7s are a damn compelling alternative. Considering you can get a very nice, low-mileage Z51 for ~ $60K or less puts it in the same ballpark price-wise as well.

But, as you pointed out the depreciation and rarity is a big plus for the GT350. Assuming you spent $60K on either one today I would bet heavily on the Shelby holding more value down the road. A $20K ADM would certainly destroy that value prop but the market is softening on non Rs.
