Luckily I have someone here who can do a review on the E series (if he has time); Mustangchief has one in his coffee table picture. Those scalloped serrations really do stand out.
I'm not a pro shooter by any stretch, although the military did pay me to shoot and provided free ammo. The S&WE 1911 was a favorite until I got the Kimber Raptor (in my hands) The E shoots decent, the trigger pulls better than previous 1911s. I never had a malfunction in the last 4 years. ( I do change out the coiled springs every 500 rounds there about) on a side note, I change the Kimbers every 300. My groups at 5 yards were 10/2 on both the SW and Raptor. At 10 yards there was a large difference, the SW drifted left and the group was no where close to being tight. The Kimber stayed pretty true on center, just couldn't get a two inch group, but I kept them in 5. I was using cheap ammo (American Eagle 230gr FMJ) Like any 1911, clean up isn't any fun. The TV trays with towels in the coffee table picture are the cleaning trays.

General impression is it is a fine gun, decent balance, good looking and so far pretty reliable. Having said that, I am spoiled having shot a Dan Wesson Valor and the Kimber Pro Raptor II. Both are a large improvement over the S&W in my opinion. The DW was a friends and the Kimber was a gift, so I had no reason to feel they were better because of price. I do prefer the Kimber and think it is worth the extra bucks. Let me know if you want any other specifics, September is my semi-annual everything gets fired and cleaned month, so I'll be spending a weekend (prob the 20th) doing just that.

I would love to be specific and respond to where Jimmy is living. But it would definitely start an argument. I will just say I hate NY in regards to this.

I have no issue with his personal feelings towards guns, although his outlook towards money I definitely disagree with. Its your money and you shouldn't allow anyone to take it from you. If you want to give it away to charity or some bum on the street that's fine but to not care because you have insurance? that's just irresponsible. Basically your making other hard working people pay you back for not defending yourself. Anyhow what kind of insurance protects you from being mugged?
No need for anything to turn into an argument. People are allowed to have differences of opinion and still be civil and kind to one another. In respect to where I live, my ancestors got off the boat in New York during the famine in the 1840's and no member of my family has lived more than 30 miles from NYC since. I wouldn't have it any other way.

And my apartment renters' insurance covers muggings. It seems odd to call pacifism "irresponsible" -- it has ancient roots, from the Beatitudes ("But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.") to the principle of Ahimsa in Jainism and Buddhism. I see all men and women as my brothers and sisters deserving of mercy and compassion, from the most beneficent to the most wicked, up to and including those who would kill me for the shirt off my back. You may disagree. That's fine; there is no right or wrong in that philosophy.

Personally, I would not want to share what I have worked so hard for with anyone else against my will ( not counting taxes) if someone tries to take it away, I will defend it any way possible. Beretta PX4 Storm S&W 40 full size... family will grow to the Beretta ARX100 and shotgun with more in the plans... concealed carry is in the plans. I believe in stopping whoever that causes grief so that they can't return and continue again. If it was on my own property, they will definitely not have that opportunity. I've been mugged on the streets twice, one with a gun second was implied which I jumped the guy.. that's a whole different story..... then getting robbed at work (Kroger) when I was in HS with a gun . Persons who live a life of crime. Will only return to it even after being caught. I would like to be one of the people that can prevent it and wasting my precious tax money that has been taken away

Here's my "cheap" plinker after I spent more on parts than the gun cost, with a couple of it's Austrian bunk-mates:

And one of it's big brothers:

Well I for one have no problem with a pacifist philosophy; I don't agree with its utility in many real world scenarios (particularly at the level of the nation-state, where force is often an unavoidable necessity), but I can understand and appreciate an individual holding these beliefs.

What caught my attention was your comment about shrugging off your mugging experience simply because you have insurance. Well, insurance is a valuable thing to have, and it will replace your possessions and pay for medical bills, but it will not take away the pain and suffering and emotional trauma.

Someone else might not end up as fortunate as you. Their mugging experience might involve the perpetrator shooting them or physically assaulting them to a severe level. If a guy kicked a victim in the face repeatedly and they lost an eye, insurance isn't going to replace their eye. If the assailant shoots someone in the kneecap with a large caliber weapon, that person is looking at painful surgery and rehab and likely a lifetime of lingering pain and difficulty. How is insurance going to deal with those things?

I had to dig this up again, something I wrote a while back....it's voting season again up here. Honestly we have a pretty decent CC law, local law enforcement encourages CC. politicians tend to talk about doing things but usually just enact laws that are meaningless and don't really affect our rights. Perception is 100% of the law you could say. If you read the law you realize we are actually a pretty friendly State.

Eww you live in speed camera Hell come down to VA lol
Lived for a few years in Richmond and was very happy about it. However, wife is with a DoD contractor at Ft. Meade so we're in Ellicott City for the time being. I work from home/nearest airport so can pretty much live & telecommute anywhere :D If she ever gets to relocate then yes, we'll get the hell out of this place and never come back. In addition to being the Gun Control Nazi haven, they also tax & spend like there's no tomorrow. Actually, Owe'Malley just taxes and then the good old boy network in Annapolis takes care of distribution

Yep, along with about 8,000 other businesses in the state. I am a very active volunteer for Hogan 'cause if Brown gets to continue the Democratic agenda in Annapolis this coming November? Then this state is truly fu#ked....

The Springfield Loaded is a nice pistol for the money; I was looking at this one or maybe a S&W E series as a 1911.

Luckily I have someone here who can do a review on the E series (if he has time); Mustangchief has one in his coffee table picture. Those scalloped serrations really do stand out.
I just traded one of these in because it was the most inaccurate 1911 I have ever owned and it also had a terrible trigger. I am partial to Sig & Kimber.
