Thats pretty sweet, being able to swap barrels is a huge plus. I'm stuck on 5.56 right now and if I were to jump up it'd be to a dedicated .308 with some good glass that I'm mounting once and done.
Buy a 7.62 nato. Its almost the same as the .308. If you get a 308 you can't use 7.62.... same goes for 5.56 and .223

I passed on an ARX-100 today and picked up a Tavor instead.

Beretta doesn't inspire the feeling of follow through with me when it comes to producing the barrels, but who knows. Maybe I'll pick that one up next. :)
Lol... Hope I am happy with the tax return.... depending on how much it is.... might pay off the jet ski early or split between gun, window tint, Ford racing cat back(last on the list) and setting aside some cushion money just in case

The nerve of some people in the other thread...lol. guns are not a problem or the law biding citizens... it's the damn people that should not have guns like crooks that is a problem and even if they were banned... it's those Jack wagons that are still the problem leaving any righteous citizen in harms way... damn it the nerve of some people saying us Americans suck... quit asking for help and shut your damn borders then! Sorry, had to vent

i don't bother responding to those people. thank god most of them are canadian and can't vote here. once they've had the kool aid and brainwashed into thinking that the government should dictate what you can and cannot own, it's over.

Do I think there should be more restrictions on purchasing guns? Yes. It is ridiculously easy to obtain a hand gun in Arizona. Do to moving around town while I was in college quite frequently I never had my drivers license updated (was still my parents address). So I technically couldn't purchase a gun since I didn't have any documentation with me on regarding my current address. And that's it - there are no other restrictions to be had. No permits, no required classes. Nothing. Scary if you ask me - there are some pretty interesting turds in the human gene pool that can get a gun just like me, and this is where all the "local man accidentally shoots himself" stories.

However, my wife, who has never touched a gun in her life (when the sales person handed her the pistol to show her how easy the slide was to pull back her response was
"the what?") and they still sold her the pistol. So yeah - I think there needs to be a little bit more control on WHO can purchase a pistol.

That being said, I found this video on youtube that I found quite interesting. It demonstrates why Switzerland has such low crime (not sure if it specifically says gun crime) rates.

Are AR-15's necessary for defense or even for sport? No. People don't hunt with AR-15s... Home defense is typically done with shot-guns and/or pistols. So whats the point of an AR-15s? its a toy. And those that will flame me saying "ERMERGERD ITS NOT A TOY" - then great, you've convinced yourself - but you wont convince me. Do I want one? Of course, but I have no purpose for it when I own it other than to shoot it at the range. My views on owning weapons are that they need to serve a purpose other than "I like to shoot it".

yep, i own several AR-15s and the only thing that's loaded in my house is my pump shotgun. i don't have pistols since i don't have a NY pistol license, and NY does not honor my FL CWL and is not one of the Reciprocity States.

If you know how to use an ar properly, yes, it can be used for hunting especially without scope aids... using them in the military for the past 22 years, very accustomed to them however, there are many who just collect them. I do plan on having at least one of each though I do not hunt unless I absolutely have to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any gun(s) it's the idiots behind them and careless parents that own them... careless people period. The day we get stripped of or guns can quite possibly be the day we get invaded... no one wants to screw with a f'd up red neck touting a gun or any veteran that believes in their country or own well being. People with domestic violence should not even have weapons period. Just like the military does not allow them to. There should be strict rules to acquire them but not restrict the responsible ones of what guns they want to get.. in any fashion no matter how you look at it... NO gun or any weapon is a toy, PERIOD!

I know lots of people that hunt with ar-15's. I used to go hunt with mine, I use my IWI Tavor for most anything now. It is my go to self defense weapon.

The rest of my firearms are mainly for playing. I do bust the 1919 hog hunting last time though. That was fun and a waste of bullets.

You don't consider shooting a sport? Ever read a story of a homeowner defending them self with an AR? I have, plenty of them.

Calling an AR a "toy" is irresponsible though. Ever heard of the 6.8 round and what it can do to hogs? Look it up.

I do agree there needs to be some level of competency required to own a gun, and this was proven at my CCW class when people were signing up to be able to carry a gun and had never fired one before.

And I'm sorry, but your views on gun ownership, don't coincide with the millions of other gun owners that have AR's sitting in their safe collecting dust waiting to be shot the next time they go to the range. Or God forbid to defend their family.

. . .

My verbiage on sport was mostly in reference to hunting. Of course I consider target shooting competition (key word: competition) to be a sport. But the population of gun owners that take part in sanctioned target shooting competitions is like saying that car owners drive for sport (maybe an exaggeration... but who cares its the internet)

All guns do their job well. Calling it a toy does not take away from the fact what they can do to hogs. However Most of the AR owners I've come across get the AR just to brag about it "And then I got this scope, with this holo sight attachment" and what else do they have? A pistol and shotgun for home defense. Leaving the AR to be just a range toy. Most hunters I've talked to would never (again - my experiences I don't want my statement to be generalized to "All the gun owners in the world") take their AR hunting.

I'm not against owning guns (rifles, hand guns, or shot-guns) - hell I own them myself. I am against the lax restrictions on buying them, and the lack restrictions on keeping them afterwards. If the police, boarder patrol, military have to occasionally re-qualify to carry their weapon. Why not the general public? Your CCW class? Not required in AZ... Why the hell not? What is so bad about making sure those that carry the weapons are competent not to shoot themselves or innocents around them? That kind of common sense doesn't come when you purchase the gun.

Never could I think of a world where guns would be illegal to own. If they were illegal, then only the bad people in society would have them. My views on gun control are my own. Its called an opinion for that very reason - and I respect yours.

Nicely said points in there that I can agree with... I will be honest some people do refer to their AR as their "toy" which, in my view, is absolutely wrong and every gun shall be treated as if it were loaded.. one of the very first rules of a gun "bible" as were are taught in the military (and common sense)
