Generally larger wheels are heavier and have more rotational inertia. Rotating mass affects performance more than the equivalent static weight by a magnitude of a few (2-4) times.
I agree with your technical mumbo jumbo Dave, but I agree with Bmac ^^^ also. Those 3.55 gears really come in handy.

I continue to drive dealers crazy. A very nice local one had this car on the lot and let me bring it home overnight:

It's an eB base car. It really looks great and I loved it, but I couldn't convince myself to keep it. First gear in the eB cars leaves a little to be desired. Also, I thought the wheels were nice, but the PP wheels are much nicer.

I still think I'd like the V6 better. I wish I could find out more about the performance flashes from Livernois or Bama or whatever, if the flashes make the first gear blahs go away.

That's how I felt when I test drove an ecoboost recently to compare it to my v6. It did feel very "blah" in first gear and left me wanting to go back to my v6 lol. But I do believe the tuner corrects much of the ecoboost's off the line performance.

...my Competition Orange Mustang.
dgc333 How do you like Competition Orange? The one 3.55 V6 available nearby me is CO.

How do you like the EcoBoost engine? Do you have a modified "Flash", "Toon"" or whatever? If so, how did that work for you?

Do you get a first gear "blah" feeling before the boost comes on in second??

Is the 3.55 even necessary as opposed to the standard 3.15, once you are out of the box? I mean, is it just a matter of shifting later in the power band when you have a taller ratio, to get the same effect?

Is the standard 3.15 ratio slow off the line, from a stop light, but then it's the same after that, if only you shift later?

Or, is the 3.55 always quicker everywhere, and the 3.15 is a dog?

The 3.55 is quicker everywhere, but the 3.15 is not a dog. Drive a 3.15 and see if you would be happy. I didn't think it was slow at all.

People say the 3.55 is quicker but none of there 0-60 times are better then those with 3.15's. I've never driven a 3.55 but really it's not far off from 3.15. If it was a 3.73 axle ratio then the difference would be very noticeable.

Is you can infer5, I'm still torn between the V6 and the eB. If it weren't for the tuning capability of the eB, there wouldn't be any difficulty. I don't care for the first gear flat spot on a eB. Also, I guess there is a tune out for the V6 that works pretty well. I'm not sure I need a tune to be happy, though.
I'd love to be happy with just a base car.

My base Civic has been a gem.

On the other hand, there's a bitch'n Ruby Red manual V6 w/51A and 3.55 at the Ford in Neenha, WI.

You really should try both. You'll be surprised by how different they feel.

The guy I sit next to at work has a GT Premium with the 50 yr Appearance pkg in Magnetic. I get compliments in about a 10:1 ratio to his car. Everyone that sees my car has something positive to say, so yeah I like competition orange.

Whether stock or tuned the power comes on hard in first gear. The advantage of a smallish turbo is instant power at the expense of high rpm power. I have a Steeda tune and I have tried the canned SCT tune that comes on the x4. Both make a very dramatic improvement in power that carries well past 6k rpm.
