It is quicker and more torquey, but because of the transmission gearing, you are forced to shift a second time which hits right at the 60 mph mark. If you were doing a 0-55 run or 1/4 mile run, it would be much faster. I get 5.2 sec 0-60 pulls on my 3:15 and when I add a CAI and did a Muffler delete, my times went down to 4.8.

With my 3.73's, I hit fuel cutoff at 59.8mph in second, as verified by a speedometer application on my phone -- really annoying. Also, I have recently discovered that the cutoff is at 6800RPM, not 7000 as I'd long believed. I can't decide what do do first: Mod, or datalog with some sort of higher resolution GPS receiver like a VBOX Sport -- I think most phones only have a 1Hz receiver, which means that it's a full second between updates -- meaning that if you begin a run at the wrong moment, it will be nearly as much as a full second off. I have no idea how TrackApps works, but VBOX has a 20Hz receiver -- so updates every .05 seconds, and stands to be much more accurate. I'm also trying to decide if I want to try a taller rear tire, or to tune first after data logging, bumping up the soft RPM limit.

I always can't understand that gearing thing. I mean, the car's total power output cannot be amplified by gearing. True a high gear amplifies torque, but that comes from the drive shaft's rotating faster than a lower gear. I think a proper gearing is all about matching the engine's powerband.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not a mechanical engineer.

This is all in reference to my GT with Performance Pack - just here for reference -- I do realize this is a thread for the V6's -- but I don't see why we can't help each other out some...

I think you understand pretty well -- but you say the torque gets amplified because the drive shaft is rotating faster -- the reality is that this correlates MOST of the time, but is not the CAUSE of the torque multiplication, so it's easy to get confused. Matching the gears to the engine powerband is spot on.
