My dealer salesman just searched 900 dealers - 900 - in the Midwest and not one - zero - V6 manuals w/3.55 exist. WTF? Is this option just for towing or something? Why am I under the impression that this is a good option but no one else wants it?

Dealers order what they think is going to sell. They either option it fully out to get max profit or get base versions of the car usually. I'd bet 90% of the cars on lots are autos, too.

Everything Bay1stang said. I'm having to order mine for this same reason. They are rare but quite a gem.

Ha Ha... move to Ontario, Canada, I just test drove a 3.55 and not 40 km away was another 3.55. I like the V6, but 3.55 is just a little too stiff for my mostly highway trips. Around town mostly, they would be great. I just ordered the stock 3.15 which is sure going to be better throttle response than my existing 2.73, highway or no highway!!

What Ford stores? Would not mind trying one with a 3.55.

Could you tell me more about how the 3.55 drives?

Not sure where you are but try Erinwood Ford in Mississauga. For the life of me I can't remember where I saw the other one, now that I drove the first one! I bought a new one today with 3.15!

It is strong as soon as you hit the torque peak at 4K rpm and it keeps pulling until redline. Even the bottom end off the line is good, not a coyote, but good.
Unlike the old 2.73, this one is just a little more eager to take its head. I've read more than 1 review on the ecoboost that comments on its apparent face plant after 6K rpm or so. And incidentally, even my wife commented that the exhaust is more aggressive than my '11 which has more engine noise mixed with the exhaust note. That's fine with me. My previous cars all had aftermarket exhaust, so I love to hear the V6 winding up thru the rev range.

Try another dealer. It took me a day to find my car (Magnetic, 051A.) and five different dealers. Four of them kept on saying there wasn't any V6 Magnetic with 051A in the entire state of Florida. There has to be one with 3.55 somewhere.

I would say the 3.55 would be preferable but I don't think its a deal breaker if you can find something very close to what you want. The old 2.73 gears were terrible though, but the 3.15 can be lived with. You can just change it out later on if need be.

My first car was a new, '63 Stingray. It came with 4.56 axle and had a top speed of about 100 mph. Great car at Skip's Drive-In, , but it felt like you were driving an axle ratio rather than a motor. I'm not expecting that though.

Can't really compare cars like that as the transmission ratios are very different, as well as tire size. I echo the comment that the 3.15 is by no means a deal breaker, and is still quite quick.

There is an ingot silver one with 3.55 gears in a northern suburb near me that is manual and has 3.55 gears. I'll pm you.

I order all the V6 for my dealership with the 3.55 gears Most of my customers appreciate the extra acceleration.
