Test drives

I'm now sure that I will have my car before this Sept 25th test drive. I don't see Ford holding onto vehicles from July until Sept 25th especially since OK to buy is 9/9/2015. My build date is 7.28.14 I got it this morning.

I'm still surprised that they're certain of the OK to sell date. That's usually a variable depending on what issues crop up during the initial start of production. It could be that its merely a target, but could move up or back depending on circumstance. While its not quite the same, I've been involved with stop ship / stop sale situations before. I've seen what happens behind the scenes as they scramble to fix problems so that cars can be sold. Its really a crap shoot...

I would've thought that Ford would've bent over backwards to match the 1964 schedule for introduction and on-sale dates - especially since NY autoshow nicely correlated timing-wise with the anniversary of the '64 Worlds Fair (which was in NYC). Buy that's water under the bridge at this point...

We have weight numbers...published in the dealer guide about a month ago.

The local dealership just called and asked if I wanted to buy a 2015 Mustang and that they have none yet and won't until late fall.

I tried to explain to her what Ford is doing with these test drives and she said they have no information on this at all. LMFAO!!!!!!!! :headbonk::headbonk:

Well hopefully we'll see power numbers by 7/14. They're going to have to have all the tuning done by the start of production unless they plan on re-flashing cars.

Scheduled for a drive on Sept 27 at 3pm at my selling dealership. If things go well, it might actually be my own car, which has a build week of Sept 15.

Mistake on the 'weight' portion - yes, it was indeed in the dealer's guide (assuming that is real). But still no hp/tq, and the car is scheduled to go into production in 4 days.

It's a moot point for me because I'm waiting for the 2017 - 2018 model (yes 2 - 3 years out).

Another possibility for me is to simply wait until the stars align. The 2014 model is blowing off the dealer lots here in Canada with a factory incentive of $4250 and employee A-pricing of $3787. That's roughly $8k in savings right off the bat. I am almost certain the same thing will happen to the S550 when it's time to clear it out for the next model. I know, I know... if you wait, you won't ever get the car you want. But $8k!

Maybe I'll buy it used. But I like new car smell, and knowing that nobody else had molested the car prior to my taking possession of it. Argh.
