Why wouldn't anyone NOT be able walk in drive and/or BUY on the 20th? Ford is gonna let the chosen few who call their 1-800# test drive 2015 Mustangs and at the same time tell them "O no, you can't buy this"
Yeah and it's not like they can really hide the cars from the general public too...like if someone walked in to buy a Fusion and saw the Mustang sitting there. I guess if it is only a month wait at that point people would be OK with that...though those of us on this forum will have ants in our pants

From what I was told by a friend that knows infinitely more than I do about cars (who also built custom engines for a living for awhile) told me what I stated above. I would have to agree with him over you guys ;) lol sorry.

Sorry your friend is not correct. This is a standardized measurment for the entire industry. Some manufacturers can decided to under report. But none are measured at the rear or front wheels.

Just got my test drive scheduled for September 27th. I'm in Buffalo, NY. I'm hoping to take delivery of my dealer stock ordered unit of which I already have a VIN for before then...but I'll still beat on the demo unit, why not!

If you've been away from the forum for any length of time, you may have missed it, but the Dealer Source Book was leaked pretty recently that shows the curb weights. Those figures seem to indicate that the car actually may have gained a little weight, but nowhere near the figures Steeda was claiming... more like 80lbs or so for the GT. However, there are some questions about how those cars were optioned, as well as 'inconsistencies' in the numbers between the trims/transmissions that won't be cleared up until we get more information and the car hits the scales in various trims in a month or two.
Yes -- I did see that information. There are enough inconsistencies in the Dealer Source Book that's leaked that I'm not convinced it is reliable. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I think the weight is something Ford is still holding close -- and they know how to keep a secret when they want to. What I'm saying is that if we are to believe that the GT will be faster around the track than the Boss, the GT specifications will match the performance (sounds obvious, but there's an awful lot of going back and forth about one number or another). If Ford announces that the car weighs X, and it happens to be less than the current vehicle optioned the same way, I would not be surprised or have any problem believing it.

Are any of you guys starting to experience apathy? I was super excited since December 5th, when they debuted it. Then I caught a second wind when I ordered in May and now my excitement is starting to wane a little bit. I'm still eagerly anticipating the delivery but I've kind of chilled out.

Any date this early in the process, even coming from the CEO of Ford, is wishful thinking.
Why do you think it is wishful? One month worth of building seems reasonable (as a target) to assess the production build process. Pretty soon, I think the final batch of cars with production-grade parts and assembly processes are going to be built. That's a big milestone, and assuming everything goes OK (they've already built two batches over the past few months), I easily see them taking about a month. When I saw the date for Oct 27, it didn't make sense that there would need to be over 2 months of production to work out any final bugs.

Obviously, things can change week-by-week, which could affect this, but I don't think it is unreasonable. Someone else posted on another thread what the timeline was for the 2005 model (new platform AND new plant), and it was about 4-5 weeks after they started building that cars left the plant and were on there way to dealers.

It ebbs and flows, man, which actually might be a good thing in order to stay sane :)

When the OP and others get test drives, no doubts it will stoke the fire again. Actually, I am anticipating hearing more information and seeing more photos in about 5 weeks month from now, when the Woodward Dream Cruise and Mustang Alley is held.

I'll be begging any Ford person I see to let me drive - hahaha :)
