Tesla style head unit for the S550?

Any chance we can get the bluetooth phone app pulled and ready to install on another android device? I have wanted to build an entirely custom unit for some time based on android but have been unable to do so because of the lack of phone integration. That phone app coupled with your android auto would be perfect!

That's kinda what I'm working on as well. I wanted to do that a long time ago. The POC I built is pretty much doing it. I found a way to integrate the phone with tablet and sync together. I just need another broken tomtop unit donor from someone to do more testing.

Yes, but they are out of office (for the most part) until February 6th, so chances are it might not ship until then.

Are you going to be doing any modification to the units programming or does it have all the features of a 2015 GTpp premium Sync2 w/ voice NAV?

Since I got the tires and alignment done I can save for a bit and get one ordered, so I am just wondering if I should wait if anything is going to be updated.

Since I got the tires and alignment done I can save for a bit and get one ordered, so I am just wondering if I should wait if anything is going to be updated.

The plan is for them to send me the initial unit for further R&D, I'll report back issues (such as the wrong color LEDs, fitment issues, general software issues, etc) and then they will correct the issues that I can't, and make those permanent changes in their final product. This can't be directly compared to the SYNC unit, because it's essentially a 10" tablet, integrated into the Mustang CANBUS. It will have similar features, but they will definitely be different. Any app you can install on an Android phone/tablet should essentially be available for this head unit, as well as the car features of Bluetooth Audio/Calling, and streaming audio from USB and AUX inputs. It will control HVAC via touchscreen as well. Once I have a unit in my hands, I'll be able to work with [MENTION=20219]StangATX[/MENTION] to resolve tiny annoyances, as well as making further enhancements, that ultimately WON'T be available to non-forum members.

If you can wait until the 2nd week of February, I'd recommend doing so, that should at least put us ahead of the curve.

The lights for the buttons on the side of the unit have the wrong color as well, not just the toggles. It could be as simple as a cellophane filter, but it's likely an incorrect LED. If they're RGB LED's, then they can likely be controlled from the unit. This is theoretical though, I am still waiting on mine to show up.

Sounds good to me, It will take a month or so to get the funds saved anyway. Plus if things will be different for forum members I would assume ordering it would have to go through a different path for the member benefit. Cant wait for to see a video of this thing running in a stang!

Sorry, I may have worded it incorrectly. The ordering will be the same, but there will be updates and information provided HERE that aren't given back to the Manufacturer.

I am confident that I can get them in the $600 range, if not lower. They have already told me that they can provide them to me at $640 each right now, if I get an order of 5 units. The more I order, the cheaper they can provide them to me. (This is if I provide nothing more than HUB services to them, and let the community here work on development.) On top of that, I would be the one footing the bill to ship them to any buyers. Prospectively, if I slap down my corporate card and order 5 units, I'm out $3,200 and have to hope I get 5 people who want them, and then are willing to pay for shipping. (I'm a nice guy, but I'm not gonna lose $75 shipping out 5 units at my expense.) Ballparking it at $15 to ship, that puts people paying $655 for one, which I don' t think is enough savings to get 5 people committed to it.
