I've never used it, but I'd be tempted to spray on plasti-dip. Guys have been painting car parts with this stuff for quite a while. Seems like they have no problem peeling it off when wanting a change. For the record I have a clear bra and love how it protects the paint.

Plasti-dip for aesthetics, sure. For protection? I don't think so, just like how vinyl wrapped cars will stick get rock chips.

So far it looks like painters tape (basically blue masking tape) is the winning solution for the guys road trip. Just wondering if masking tape would offer more or less protection from sand/pebbles kicked up by the guy in front of you on the hwy?

I've heard of using non stick cooking spray for road trips, just rinse when you get to your destination. (never tried it)

I wouldn't risk it, especially on the vinyl stripes

I've always heard that's s big no-no nowadays because dirt can get trapped under the cover, and constantly rub against the paint. Have you noticed anything like that?

I would at least double or triple layer, I wouldn't trust s single layer to do much

Don't follow too close then. Either drive fast pass them or slow and stay behind.

Clear bras look fine for a while but eventually they look like crap and then it will either need to be redone or removed

I've been thinking I might need to just get the car quartz coated.

For a trip like yours I would just get one of those nylon masks that's made for our car

eco you need to get Ceramic Pro from www.pristineautodetails.com & Novi stretch mask www.novistretch.com use code :AMERICA

Trip is sometime in late June hopefully. Just going with double layer of painters in the front, portion of roof, and front of rear fenders.

This is for bugs, not rocks.

OP, I suppose you could research the possibility of a local guy performing warranty work on the out-of-town clear bra job. For example, the Xpel warranty is good everywhere, but of course they want you to go back to the original installer first.

Even if you could get the local installer to go for this, your bigger challenge might be scheduling the car with the remote installer. He needs your car for a couple days, and so he would need sufficient advance notice. Also, spring is high-demand season, because the fat-cats take in their brand new sports cars for wraps. My guy is scheduled out six weeks right now.

Lastly, there is no better time to wrap your car than right after dealer delivery. The paint is perfect then, and the installer barely needs to perform any detailing steps before applying the film. Note that you cannot apply too much film, so bite the bullet and apply as much (or more) than you can afford!
