Took some endoscope pictures of the valves- do they look normal?

Just finding this thread. The valves look fairly normal to me. How many miles on the engine?

also - those secondary timing chain tensioners that are shorter are the new oem part. Ford replaced the older longer part with the new shorter one. My engine uses them. I was super confused at first too.

And please don’t put any MMR parts in this motor. MMR doesn’t build for longevity/reliability.

Thanks- ran 40k. Following the tapping sound openend it up and noticed scoring/scratches on the camshafts and caps (not the journals). Also some lifters were soft..looks like no bent or burnt valves, some carbon buildup but believe that’s not weird. Heads look very clean, but did find some plastic debris (see pics). So bit puzzled, frequently replaced oil- did run a lund tune, but cant imagine that hurting anything..

Okay guys- it’s been a while since parts were not available for months…now I’m getting back at it and installing cam caps…been too long so I forgot- are the numbers upside down when installed? If so, then I stored properly..

they should only fit one direction - the sleeve for the bolt is bigger on one end compared to the other. That said, it looks like mine were upside down. here’s an assembly photo I found

Hey folks- I changed timing chains, tensioners, guides, cam phasers, lash adjusters, roller fingers - the whole thing. Took my time, by the book, buttoned everything up correctly, oil pressurized through the oil sensor hole and it fired up perfectly, no CEL. One of the cam phasers failed, so I went ahead and replaced the lot.

but… I havent driven the thing for a year now and I can’t really remember how noisy it was, have a feeling the engine is being very/too loud, sort of tapping…I’ve added a video- what’s your take? This is after about 60miles

many thanks

Holly crap Batman. First is oil pressure normal at idle?. 2nd: I would not run at all. I would remove timing cover and verify the timing, then I would verify the tensioners for one sounds like it is not priming/working. Did you install ratchet type Boss tensioners?
