I have an iphone 6 and my texts work on sync. You need to go to the setting on your iphone for alerts under sync and enable text. Then it will work.

I enabled "show Notifications" under the Bluetooth section. I now get a chime when I get a text, but the Sync system doesn't prompt me to "read" and I can't figure out how to reply to the text. The On-Star system chimes and says "text from Joe Smith" and then asks if you want to have it read. Does the Sync system at least announce who the text is from?? Also, when I press the "read" button on the screen, it does not mark my text on the iPhone read.

I appreciate any help.

Sync play button problems

The first time I connected my IPhone 6 via Bluetooth, music from the phone automatically started playing.

Once I used a cable, only a cable seems to work.

However, its buggy as heck. Sometimes, the audio terminates while the phone display clearly shows the phone to still be playing and the dash display still identifies the source as USB. I have to cycle through all the modes (am pages, fm pages, sat pages, phono jack) and get back to USB for the sound to resume from the phone.

perhaps relatedly, the on-screen play button does not work. EVER. If I am playing a podcast from the iphone and have it on the sync screen, there is a pause button on the sync screen. If I hit that, the podcast pauses and the button becomes a play button. If I hit the play button, the podcast does not play. I have to press the play button on the phone.

note, I say"sync" without any knowledge of where normal AV functionality ends and Sync or My Ford Touch or whatever functionality begins.

Apple screws it up. Again!! Security is NOT the reason, it is an excuse.

My iPhone 6 works well. It's iOS 8.1, and I haven't had any issues with messaging or streaming. (jinx)
Granted, I also have not plugged it in via USB to see if that "messes something up". But so far, so good.

i set the dash display to full screen the audio rather than just quarter screen. That makes it easier to switch back from USB to bluetooth after plugging in. with bluetooth, both play and pause work. with USB only pause works.

initially, i plugged the lightning usb cable to the usb port in the center armrest and my iphone worked with pandora and waze, but i did notice a glitch, where i would have to hit the play button twice for the music to play. the first time i would hit play it would play for a moment then stop.

then when i brought the car in for non working brake lights, ford put me up in a VW Tiguan, which didnt have a usb input for the lightning cable, so I set the music/waze up to play over bluetooth and just plugged my cable into a cigarette lighter usb adapter. it worked flawlessly, and it automatically played pandora when i start the car.

so when i got my mustang back, i decided to use bluetooth instead of usb, and guess what, that works flawlessly too... so i unplugged the lightning cable from the usb port and plugged it into the cigarette adapter instead, for charging purposes only.

That's my setup, and I too get full functionality.
