SYNC 3 version 2.0

Does anyone know how we upgrade to version 2.0. Just got it in my wife's explorer and it has car play and is WAY better than the current version.

I added an updated 2017 ACM (among other items) to my 2016 Track Pack that allowed 2.0 to be installed. Works like a charm. Came out of an F150.

Thanks for the info on your build and also the link to Jesse's thread. I scanned through it and it seems like he's reprogramming modules as we've done with the Forscan. Correct? If so, are the specific modules, lines & values available? If so, I guess I missed them.

Also, it's my understanding the '15&'16s need a hardware upgrade to get the latest Sync version. Is the hardware upgrade you got from Jesse the same required hardware upgrade?

The 2015 models came with MFT, which was built on Microsoft's Embedded OS. 2016 models came with Sync 3 (V1.X), and later model year builds came with Sync 3 (V2.X). Eventually, all 2016 models should be upgraded to V2.X, which includes Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The only hardware upgrade required on 2016 models is the replacement of the USB hub, which allows Apple users to utilize Carplay. Android Auto users will require no such upgrade.

There's a BIG Android Auto thread that has the information, so take a look at the last few pages of that thread. I don't have the part number, and I don't believe it's been released by Ford, yet, but supposedly, it's a dealer-only replacement, and it should be out by the end of the year (we'll see...).
