Yesterday I did a 4" to 8" upgrade using HellHorse plug and play kit. The initial installation was a snap and I was able to complete the whole thing in under 1 1/2 with taking my time to check and double check everything. But when I tried to reprogram using supplied ELF 237 USB adapter and Forscan software I am greeting "Unable to connect to vehicle" error. I check all of the setting and watched a few YouTube videos and from what I can tell all of the seeting are correct. Forscan sees the ELF module but that's about it. Could the USB ODBC II adapter be faulty or is it something I screwed up. If I cant program the unit myself, what are my options? Would a dealer handle the mod?

Thanks,

I'm not a Forscan user but knowledgeable enough about computers to always suspect anything mechanical when it comes to connections errors. Give Hellhorse a call tomorrow to confirm. You should not have to go to a dealer for this.

In the meantime, give this a shot.

Dealer likely won't touch anything most likely, the guide Bikeman linked should help to make sure the OBD tool is actually being detected/supported by your computer.

It could be an issue with your specific one as well, not sure which you have but here is the one I got when I was looking for a cheaper/wired one for a module firmware update before: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S7W14X9/

Has given me no issues so far.

Did you reach back to Hell Horse for advice?

I only completed the install yesterday. Will ping HellHorse tomorrow during business hours. Sounds like this is one-of issue. I also ordered a OBDLink MX module. If it worked I'll know its the ODBC II adapter,

So the issue turned out to be a faulty OBD II adaptor. I was able to reprogram the unit and now it works as advertised.

I also upgraded it to Sync 3.4 with a USB. The only down side to doing this upgrade is that I no longer have GT Performance the theme. Oh well, I’ll just have you used Shelby theme instead. lol
