It's actually a 600 euro navigation system, the other 600 are for the Shaker Pro upgrade.

To solve the speed camera omission: Just buy a 100 euro Garmin and drop it inside the armrest. Garmins automatically switch on when you start the car (provided your 12V outlet is contact switched) and despite not 'unlocking' the splash screen warning they will actually start to follow your route in the background and make noise when you pass speed cameras. TomTom does not do this, those you need to unlock first on the splash screen every time you start the car. With a Garmin you just drop in there and forget about it. I have one in my Audi (its 4500 euro navigation system doesnt have speed cameras either) for 5 years already, works brilliantly.
good hint, thanks!
Tomtom (at least the one I have used over the years warn you only if a route has planned. When you are simply driving without destination it won't warn.

In fact I don't trust speed camera warnings from GPS devices for the simple reason that usually maps will be out-dated.
I only trust my Valentine One (illegal in my country - fine 2000 Eur! ) which is accurate for laser guns as well which is most common speed control method.

p.s. there is a very distinctive mounting base placed under the center mirror especially designed for V1 radar. Takes power with pins behind the mirror . No messes with cables.

friendgr - do these radar detectors work in europe? I always thought that they won't work with our speed control systems.
For that reason I don't know if they are allowed or not here.

Yes the power from the mirror is good for a dashcam too!

Edit: it could be a good subject for a new thread in europe section: "radar detectors in europe" :)

I drove a Ford Edge last winther as a rental car and I was very pleased with the functions and layout of the Sync 2.

I have a Navi professional in my BMW and it don´t have speed cameras, I bought a Garmin with voice command for 150 euro and it is way more better than the BMW system.
And yes, there are better systems then the Sync 2 but do you really need them? I will use it for listen to the radio, streaming music from spotify and to call via Bluetooth.
If I need to to something else I use my LG phone or my iPad.
That is good enough for me, just my 2 cents...

Of course it works P E R F E C T L Y !
The specific V1 has two modes: US and EU. so it is fully working in europe. It can detect EVERY type of signal.

it works great.

It has a 2 week learning curve. But after 2 solid weeks with the system it just works.

I am on my 3rd sync 2 sytem in 3 cars. It is part of why i keep comming back to ford.

Why would anybody spend money on this when there are so many good apps like Waze or Google Maps/Apple Maps that are 100 percent free?
Because they need an internet to work. And it's not cheap in roaming.
