Regarding videos, from what I read, the Sync 2 can play mp4 so probably mp4 videos.

However, it does not work when the car is moving. I guess it works only when the car is set on park (for automatic) or the engine turned off.

You should try with an mp4 video and an USB stick.

Tried this morning: no way.
Anyway, mp4 is just a container: it depends on the encoding of the video.

Very true about feeling the switches, especially when you have had a car for a while. I can operate everything in my own car without taking my eyes of the road.

I'm surprised touch screen are allowed considering they must be so distracting.

OK next step:

With this program https://mirillis.com/en/products/splashexport.html
you can easily convert ANY video format with just two clicks litterally!
There are ready profiles such as iphone/ipad/ipod etc so no need to have technical knowledge about encoders, decoders etc.

If you like I can easily convert a short video and upload it to a hoster for you to try.

I just converted a video in an mp4 for iPod Classic Nano and put it on a pendrive. Tomorrow morning I will try that.
I will also try to connect an old iPod where I should have some videos...

UPDATE

Ok, I have made some tests.

Blu-Ray movie - does not play
DVD - does not play
DVD with UDB file (Movie)(not sure what kind of file format this is) - does not play
Music video on iPod - Plays
Music on iPod - Plays
Music via Bluetooth - Plays
Music Video via Bluetooth - does not play

In the menus, select USB (in my case, the Nano). Then one can select between Music and Movies. Select Movies. It then plays the Movie, but only from the Nano, not any discs.

A bit surprising that a US system does not play DVD discs at all, especially as the US cars usually have "everything".

Hardly a minus point in my book as I never play a movie in the car. Totally not interested....;)

Because they need an internet to work. And it's not cheap in roaming.
Ah okay, sorry  I have been spoiled by my provider's 3 euro per day roaming charges in all EU countries. I live on my phone after being without internet for almost an entire year at one point. This is my life :D

I am ready for 2017 so that all roaming within the EU is eliminated and we can use our phones everywhere without having to pay extra!

don't think that they will give us roaming for free... they will raise all prices so to include roaming costs.

I hope not! I hadn't considered that option as contracts are already so expensive here for what you get...

I always have to laugh when I hear people back in the U.S. complaining about getting their mobile data slowed down after 3GB or something insane. I get 1.5GB a month and live with it

Small breakthrough in the sync speed camera warning, but might be a major breakthrough for your wallet!
A few post back I complaint about the lack of speed camera warnings like on my tom-tom, well the good news is we have it as well.
When you activate the navigation voice you get a voice warning about 300 to 400 meter upfront a fixed speed camera location. (you don't necessarily need to set a destination to use this feature)

Usually I don't enable the voice directions but last night I did and on normal traffic lights I didn't get a warning, contrary to the traffic lights where a speed-camera is placed you get a warning.
Depending on your language settings you get "caution" in English, Achtung in German, Attation in French and something in Dutch as well.

I can confirm this, and you don't even need to have navigation active to get the warning. In italian I got an "Attenzione!" when approaching a fixed speed camera location.
Very nice feature!

Good news ! Although I still believe that it can't replace the radar. The most critical trap is the laser-pistol used by mobile police patrols.

Next project: how to update the maps ? (free of charge of course ;) ).

Yes that's true, but wasn't my point either. My point was to have atleast something basic like on the tomtom and I didn't knew it was sort of hidden if you mute the navigation voice.

For the manual speed-cams, car cams and movable cameras, yes nothing will beat a radar, although I discussed it with a few people this week and it seems that cops already have detectors to detect cars with a detector... bummer!

Free map updates, not sure how though.

The map included with our navigation unit is the "F4" and it's the latest available for Europe from Ford (it's the 2015 version).
However you can find many map sd card on ebay at a reasonable price (50-70 eur). Sure it' about the price of a cheap stand alone gps navigation system, but compared to what I assume will be the official price from Ford, it really cheap :)
