Sync 2 - opinions.

To all owners: how would you rate Sync2 system?
Reliable/unreliable? Slow? Fair enough? Better waiting for the Sync3?

Based on Ford's statement Sync2 CANNOT be upgraded to Sync3 , total different hardware.

Could someone upload a 1-2 minutes of video showing the basics? (i.e. responsive times, touch sensitivity, user interface).



P.S. I love technology and gadgets so my reference points are the latest smartphones/tablets devices.

Euro 2016 models still get Sync2, not Sync 3.

[MENTION=14187]friendgr[/MENTION]: There are multiple videos on YouTube that show the workings of Sync2 in detail. If you wanna check it out irl just visit a Ford dealer that has a new Mondeo in the showroom. It has the exact same system.

I think it works quite good. As with all systems of this kind it shows good and bad sides. Personally i find it quite quick compared to other system i have used and only a few irritating, but more than acceptable, moments.

No need for Sync3 when IMO this works perfectly fine and does what i would like from it except:

When it has finished playing an album, it does not jump over to the next one! No, it either stops or repeats dep on what repeat option i have set.

Could you please check what languages are supported?

I'm not interested for the UI (I always prefer english) but I do interested about the phone contacts catalog. All my contacts are written with greek letters. So how will Sync2 display them?
As a chinese question marks? (I fear yes)

As far as i know only English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Russian and Swedish are among the languages that works on the EU cars. Without checking, the german cars have the usual of English, German, French and something else. I use English.

Being Swedish, some of my contacts and nav addresses are written using Swedish letters like Å Ä and Ö and the system have absolutely no problems in displaying that, despite me having everything set to English. It can also write the german ß (double s).

Just reminded me that the english voice in the nav is the same as in my wifes Volvo and is terrible when pronouncing german names.... :lol:

Yes but even Swedish are among the primary EU languages.
Greek is almost forgotten from electronic devices.....only mobile phones support it....


By the way, this guy installed HDMI and Aux !!!!!

I think it's totally fine. Am used to the system of the current Golf and it's on par. Bute the speech commands in SYNC2 are much better, jumping to a special artist or album works great.

I am just missing an option to play files in a folder in a special order like sorted by name of the file, it's always sorted by title name.

Response time is ok, but of course not comparable to a smartphone. I really love the home-splitscreen to see all information at once. Also the navigation display is really great with special graphics of the lanes of an exit ahead.

My wife's Dodge has the critically acclaimed uConnect in it. Compared to that I like MyFordTouch better. The graphics are better, I like the 4 panel home screen that shows the status of each of the systems controlled and there is not enough difference in the responsiveness to be noticeable. Unlike the uConnect the system in my Mustang has been perfect with no glitches or freezes.

I think MyFordTouch got a bad rap when it first came out in 2011 that it hasn't shaken even though all the bugs have been worked out.

I could use voice commands in my '12 to connect to Pandora (mobile apps > pandora) and it would work great with full wheel controls. The upgraded Shaker pro audio system in the '15 isnt capable of doing this which really sucks (has to connect via bluetooth audio).

Swedish is a very small language only spoken by 10.5 million or so in the whole world! But easy to program, unlike Greek....i am sure you will be able to use english in your car. Re "translating" your greek entries, i am sure the system will work this one out

I use an iPhone 5S with some radio apps from Sweden and the UK. I havent tried yet but will do tomorrow to see if i could control the app through the system.

Translated voice control of sync 2 is the main reason I went for an Euro mustang. I have no problem reading\using the system in english but it' more difficult to let these system understand you if it's not your native language. And even if we are not so important, we have very often software\movies\systems translated in our language! (the drawback is that we have so much difficulties with english..)

I bet that system responses will be very different from a typical smartphone (on top of all, the resisitive touch), however usage is slightly different so I don't mind.

Fun fact, in one italian test drive (hdmotori.it, one of my preferred) the guy says "so we have the NEW Sync2 system... very fast, responsive, a very good system".
Watching US reviews they said "so we have the OLD Sync2 system.. very slow, unresponsive, a very bad system".

But I really prefer SYNC2, even if it has a slower reaction time. But the design of SYNC3 is really horrible and don't fit the mustang. It looks like a "My First Tablet" Toy for children.

Yeah I agree, I don't think the UI for Sunc3 is an improvement al all. The software behind it is though. It's faster and more responsive from what I have seen so far. But in the end of the day it's still a touch screen system which will always suck in a car. I already know I will be missing my Audi MMI system dearly.

Well, the Sync2 in my car is certainly quick enough. Only the nav sometimes can be a little sluggish compared to say, the MMI system in my A6 (which is superb).
