Swapping out hood pins

Has anyone installed hood pins and then changed them because they didn’t like them? Bought my Mustang just over a week ago, it came with hood pins installed by a previous owner. I believe these might be Scott Drake billet hood pins. Rather than resort to buying a new hood, how hard would it be to swap them out for a quick-latch hood pin?

I know!! I almost passed on buying the car originally because of it. But considering the mileage and how clean it was, I figured I’d just find a way to get rid of them.

Where do they latch underneath? Those seem kinda high up. Almost like the driver's side one would be over the intake/tube.

The pins are mounted to the radiator supports.

Ok those are pretty good mounts, it's just the difference in the layout of the 15-17 vs 18-23 that threw me off.

Also the blue painted accents in the engine bay are pretty good.

The concern with removal would be if the next set of pin plates is the same diameter and screw pattern - otherwise it’s possible the existing has marred the hood finish and would be difficult to cover with a new set.

Only way to really find out is order what you like and then try to swap 1 out to see how fitment of the replacements aligns with the old.

my hood flutters a ton above 140mph so the pins probably do help

I figured this would likely be the solution. Was really hoping someone else may have been in the same predicament at one point. I’ll give it a shot.

I like how Quik Latch gives you dimensions of absolutely everything in the kit. Should make it easy for OP to measure if it can be swapped.
