"Vehicle telematics is data transmitted from the vehicle to the automaker or OEM through embedded communications systems in the car," the Ulysses document continues. "Among the thousands of other data points, vehicle location data is transmitted on a constant and near real-time basis while the vehicle is operating."

Time to pull the #10 fuse guys. Ford Sync is not your friend.

I got in an accident last year, car called 911 on me, I said I'm fine and hung up and drove to a gas station for tow and that was that.

The car isn't going to snitch on you.

Pulling that fuse won't disable the "black box" which police will use if they choose.

Everyone has their own level of paranoia about this stuff and I used to as well. I no longer care, I sold my soul to google years ago.

Most GPS coordinates are worthless though. AI's are sorting through all this data. All it's looking for is where you shop for the most part, so it can build a better "targeted ad profile" for you. If you think that's bad, did you know that having a conversation with a friend on several messaging apps and even through text will parse that info to give you ads about the things you talk about?

This is it. It's all about ad profiles and selling your profile / ad preferences. It's not going to affect you in any nefarious ways. They've already got a pretty detailed one on you by now so it's a little late to even worry about it.

As long as you don't have one of those insurance "good driving" programs / apps / boxes for a discount you've really got nothing to worry about.

Get in a bad accident and hurt someone pulling that fuse won't help you one bit.

Just the fact that it has "the app" (whatever that might be) and remote start is all I need to know to realize that there's nothing of benefit to me in it. I didn't need my first new car to "be connected" with anything external to it other than broadcast radio stations, and I really don't need my latest new car or any next new car to "be connected" to any more than that.

Targeted advertising is at best no better than general advertising, and in some respects it's worse because it tends to be more actively pushed at you.

cant speak for anyone else...but in all the threads about this, never was that part of the equation.

black box data is there no matter what one does, but transmitting the everyday data is where the line was drawn ;)
