Hello Guys…

Semi-New to the mustang world…

Just bought a 22 Mach 1, I live at 6,000 feet so my car is slow to say the least.

Im interested in supercharging but how reliable can this be? Im looking stock like driveability with around 500 whp (at altitude I make around 340 whp).

Im certainly not looking forward cel lights, tune ups and continued mechanic visits, just a conservative set and forget thing…

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Huge supercharger thread under forced induction forum of this site...ck it out. Lots of opinions, I went with Roush for the warranty...but not sure what your goals are. Mine was installed by dealer on my 21 GT last September and no issues.

Thanks, will look into it, but mixed opinions don't get my hopes up…

Goal is stock like driveability + set and forget… more frequent oil, trans and diff changes its not a problem.

My car is 6 speed tremec btw…

Quite several options will give you "stock like driveability + set and forget". Mixed opinions are mostly around efficiency and more tuning potential.

Roush is a good example, where you get great tune, probably safest among the rest, overall stock-like manners for daily driving while delivering quite ipressive performance. but, it's far from best option if you live in very hot climate and want to tune the hell out of it. it comes with great warranty coverage too.

I went with it as well and best reliability was my top priority too. Dealer did the install and 3 year / 35k miles warranty is through them. It's same car as before ad far as street behavior, unless I step on it. Then it's more than I could ever reasonably use on the street. I have no issues with heatsoak as I'm up north and no plans to tune it more. So, I'm quite happy with what it is. If I was planning to mod it more, extract more hp or build a drag car, I would definitely pick some other option.

Having said all of that, let me ask - do you plan any track duty, HPDE, and ent?

If you're the least bit reasonable about your expectations, reliability is NOT an issue for a boosted V8 Mustang. Most recent car before the S550 was a 2003 Terminator. Put a Whipple 2.3 on it at 75,000 miles and drove it another 50,000 without a hiccup. Think of how much better a Coyote 5.0 is than an old 4 valve that was designed in the late 1990s. 650 to 700 rwhp is just not going to cause you any trouble. Only thing you might consider is a different clutch, but even that may not be an issue.

Hey Tosha!

Thanks for your reponse,

No track duty… mostly city and long distance travel, temps are between 40 and 110 all year round at 6,000 feet.
