That is because China's state run China National Chemical Corp. Ltd. took controlling interest in Pirelli in 2015 and maintain the tire company's ownership structure until 2023. I personally will never buy a Pirelli again!

FWIW, on my previous car i've had Michelin Pilot SuperSports start to have little micro cracks all throughout the tread area after the tire was driven in winters as low as about ~28F (but most days we're talking between 40-60). They still seemed to perform fine for my use.

I didn't see it happen with PS4S so maybe this has been improved.

I bit the bullet and got A/S ties on..much improved in low temps..you head and butt is worth something, right? I will drive to FLA, leaving the NE is low temps and not get to warm temps for miles and miles, and return in low temps.........

One accident in Pa or Vir, is minus one Mustang.

Yes, the earth is flat for some people yet, and the summer only tires are ok at 15*f and lower...............

I know this slightly off topic but anyone that has riden a motorcycle with R compound tires in the Temps we're talking about and had a panic situation arise it will put skids in your under wear. I personally seen micro cracking. I'm not a chemical engineer but know what works and doesn't for me. I do know for a fact that summer tires are summer tires and designed sold as such. I run dedicated tires for the season. Cheap insurance to eliminate all the issues we speak of.
