Did the same for our WRX a couple of days ago.

I generally like to take a couple of days driving a little more moderately before asking a lot from tires that have just been sitting idle in an unheated / uncooled garage for a few months.

Put the summer tires on my Ford Edge Sport a week ago (Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4)… and 3 days later we got 6 inches of snow… typical! (And why even my summer tires are AS!)

Mustang continues to only have the PS4S it came with… and has been in the garage most of the week because of it…

In fairness to the people who live in areas where it can snow later in the year (myself included), my Tacoma is a 4x4 for just such an occasion.

Got my summer tires back on this past weekend too! Ahhhh, much better.

<Edit> My summers are also all season. There may be no more heavy snow, but it is still very cold in the mornings. We can see a 40 degree swing between the low and the high.

According to Michelin, I can't even store my car on the summer tires. I had no choice but to remove them for the winter.

Also put my summer tires back on this weekend! My garage is also a wood shop so I had lots of fun cleaning the heck out of them before putting them on the car. I do see they need a little air though so that will be something to take care of very soon.

True, winter driving is the best time
I do like some snow drives, as long as the ones sharing the road with me aren't....wait never mind, conditions don't change how "they" drive or fail to do so.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to climate control the garage :giggle:
PSE&G gets enough of my $ as it is. I can't imagine spending 30% more every month just to heat/cool that drafty space, never mind the mechanical mods to the HVAC to even make it happen.

Fair enough. My garage is actually insulated, so I'm going to drop a ductless system in. No need to do major HVAC work, just a 3" hole in the wall and some sealant.
Mine has *some* insulation and a fair amount of cabinetry hung on the outer wall. But the space is not fully blocked off from its attic, which is vented at the peak, and the less said about sealing around the garage door the better . . .

At least it doesn't normally get down below 20°F inside, where some of the newer tires would have you waiting for them to warm up gradually for a full day or so before doing anything with them. But I can tell that the tread surface hardens a little over the enforced idleness, which means the tires need to be scrubbed in a bit before leaning on them as hard as I might otherwise. There is a subtle difference in feel.
