Has anyone replaced the actual speaker in the rear sub box. I know its an 8" sub and I removed the front grille, but the speaker seemed glued into the box. If anyone replaced that sub with
a better quality speaker, how did you remove the speaker from the sub box, and what speaker did you replace it with?

There is also a screw from the back of box that has to be removed. Gotta take the box out to get to it. And, WRONG SECTION

I just went with a sundown 8" and left the factory sub there, doesn't bother me. I think its also better if you get a custom box made for your new sub and replace the location of that one

Pack it full of polyfil. You can get it at Hobby Lobby or places like that. I put as much in as would fit. Made a huge difference in sound. I have a convertible and it thumps well for what it is.

I replaced the shaker sub with a different sub.

The sub was only bolted in from the back. Once you removed the screw and the front cover, it was not difficult to remove the sub.

When you plan to replace the sub, consider that the amplifier delivers power for 2 coils in the subwoofer. And the shaker sub has actually 2 coils.
There are only very few direct replacement subs available out there. I replaced the amplifier as well and therefore had no issues.
My sub is a Focal P20F and my amp is a Audison Prima AP1D.
