Since my college days when I worked at a custom stereo shop I have always liked to use the fader and balance to equalize the sound in the car. Has anyone found a good sounding rear deck speaker? I have the 12 speaker "Shaker" system but it just doesn't balance well with the crappy rear deck speakers.

You can get a set of 6.5 or 8" sub's to put in the rear deck if you dont want to go all out but you would still need an amp to push them.

I replaced all of mine with Kicker brand and have been very happy with them. Since i had the 9 speaker system with no bass I just recently added the Kicker Hideaway sub which fits very nicely in the floor behind the front passenger seat. Now I have a system which is enjoyable to listen to. Love all our Fords, but shame on them for putting such crap in at the factory. Amazing how tiny the magnets on the rear speakers are.

svfetter, can you have the passenger seat all the way back with the sub on the floor?

I really haven't checked that 100% but it still goes back quite a way. Plenty for a longer legged person.

However, I do have to qualify that. My Mustang does have Recaro seats which are manual only. I do not know how that would compare to the stock mustang seats.

We have the seat slid back until it slightly squeezes the sub to secure it and eliminate vibration. With the way the Recaro seatbacks are shaped you really can't hardly see the floor behind the seat or the sub. Hope that helps.
