Since I've given up on Mirror Tap, I'm trying to hard wire my radar detector using this:

. However, I'm a little confused and not really into electrical stuff so it doesn't just come to me.

Reason I'm going with this is because Mirror Tap is usually easy for everyone else, but my prongs break, wires come out of the connector, etc. Tired of dealing with it. With this accessory wire from Escort, I understand that one end goes around a screw or something for ground, the other one connects to the radar detector, but what about the other one that looks like it's supposed to connect to 12v? This wire looks like it's supposed to connect into one of those T-Tap connectors that are usually used to splice into another wire. How in the world is that supposed to go into a fuse box?

You can just cut the end off, strip it, and use a fuse tap.

And in my case, at least when I did my dash cam, I couldn't get the fuse tap to fit in the fuse box, so I just took the wire, wrapped it around the leg of the fuse, and plugged the fuse back in. Works.

But yea, it looks like that is designed for one of those t-taps. If you know a good switched 12v wire, then that works great too, but otherwise, you can just cut the end off.

As for what fuse for switched 12v? I dunno off the top of my head.
